I have no idea, but the whole trailer seems off the rails so I'm hoping they go with the book ending. It seems like it would be appropriate with the tone of the trailer. I think you'll end up being right though.

The tone of the trailer doesn't really match the book and it seems they turned the comedic moments up to 11 which I guess is understandable but I was hoping for something a little more faithful to the original story but this looks like a typical forgettable action movie. Also, the game show stage/tube drop is straight out of the Schwarzenegger version so I'll be curious to see how many of those elements get carried over to the new movie.

With Edgar Wright being as big of a film geek as he is I'd expect a lot of homage to the original in this one.

All I know is the Arnold version has so many ridiculous 80s one-liners that I don't think it can be improved upon.

Also the scene in the trailer where he's running down the hall and the trained Hunter misses a half dozen shots from 15 feet is so unbelievable it hurts

Never read the book, but was that a trained hunter or just a random person? The trailer makes it seem like anyone can kill him, not just the American Gladiator killers and the person shooting just came out of an apartment.

What made it so good was everyone knew him from being on so many game shows both as a regular on Match Game and the emcee of Family Feud. So him turning heel here was just great stuff.

Agreed & he did it VERY well I thought.
I don't know why they didn't use Steve Harvey or maybe Drew Carey as the emcee as a nod to the original casting.
I would like it if they made Pat Sajak the mastermind of it all.

Not sure. In the book if I remember correctly, only the Hunters can kill him, but the general public could get money for informing on his whereabouts

Finally watched the trailer. Whoever said they shoulda got Steve Harvey is a genius. Big grinnng Steve Harvey who is secretly sinister AF would have been amazing.

Richard Dawson and Arnold together on a set must have been a nightmare for every female employee of the studio.
