Man, the Asian wife is the worst. Jon Hamm is holding this show together but it's a poor man's Billions if we're being honest.

I must not be in the target demo for enjoying Westchester NY c*ckoldry fantasies among the uber elite class.

It didn't seem like a female demographic show at first but the plot has devolved into stupidity. Even my wife was commenting how bad season two was.

This show is 90% wealthy vibes with the plot being of little importance. The writing is bad, but I still find it watchable.

James Marsden looked like he had fun playing that role.

The casting of Jon Hamm's dad was bad. That guy looked like he was only 12-15 years older than Hamm.

I think the guy that plays Barney is going to start to get some big roles.

He was a main character in Banshee on Cinemax

Played a gay cross dresser, pretty big difference to this role

Binged season 2 over the last couple days. Thought it was a good follow-up to S1. I think this role was perfect for Amanda Peete. I thought it was obvious what the cliffhanger was going to be but thought it was well done.

Also, that car ride convo was so odd. His son was arrested for a high-profile MURDER, he just bailed him out of JAIL, and there was next to no conversation about either.

On the other hand, I've seen very similar behavior first hand.

Not at the same severity or income tax bracket but... when my father who worked and busted his ass from age 13-77, bailed my useless little brother out of jail. There was no discussion about it at all - which kind of infuriated me.

So strange yes. Unrealistic, no.

So, I do not come from this background....but a family member of mine married into one a lot like it on the east coast. I have been to a number of their parties/social events etc & I have been filled in on enough dirt to write a book, and you are correct, they pretty much all do suck.

Other than Jon Hamm, it makes the show kind of hard to watch, at least for me. I'm about half way through S.2 and I'm not sure i'll go back to it. Not a fan of the mysterious young shipping magnate & most of the other people on the show, but his breaking into houses and stealing super high end stuff is cool, in a way.

Just wish the show focused more on the high end robberies etc, and less on the desperate housewives.

Even though I lived in a crappy apartment next to a levee in Kenner for 3 months one summer, I couldn't figure out their coded language. Alter Ego. Duh. Seems so obvious now.

Safe to assume that you haven't been married to your college sweetheart for 30 years. Amanda Peet is just fine. S1 not so great maybe but in S2, there are some good hair, makeup, wardrobe combos.

I agree that Amanda Peet is fantastic, and while it's probably my age showing, I think she is super hot at her current age. Marsden is so often cast as the lamewad nice guy - Cyclops, Lois Lane's loser BF in Superman Returns - it's great to see him be a psycho. I thought the episode that was entirely at Jon Hamm's Dad's funeral earlier this season was one of the best bits of emotional TV I've seen in a long time.

Agreed. I thought it was one the better stand alone episodes of TV I've ever seen. You could have not seen any of this show at all
And watched it as an hour long one/off. The themes of parental death, sub-par upbringings, family struggles, and grief were all done so relatable to anyone that has life those things

That funeral episode was rough.

I lost my father last year and my wife lost her father this year. It was very relatable.

• Captured an element of what I will call funeral tourists. There seem the be a number of older folks who only knew the deceased in passing, don't know any of the family members but, will show up for ceremony and a meal.
• Captured an element of the widow doing nutty things and saying inappropriate stuff and then breaking down.

It was another episode of the show that felt like it could have been written just for me.

S2 Eps 9 & 10 were some of the best television I've seen in a long time.

3 different major plot twists that I didn't see coming within the span of 15 minutes between the two episodes.

The wrap up in S2E10 was great if they just did it Brit style and never filmed another episode.

I'm definitely looking to S3 although, I think it will have to be a pretty big shift from the grand larceny that made the show entertaining in S1. I think we'll have to see a lot more character development with Nick and Barney.

James Marsden's character was so over the top, it was hilarious to watch. You never knew what outlandish thing he was going to do next.

IRL - the guy who played Coop's dad is only about 15 years older but that didn't seem that bad. The problem I had with his parents was the age difference with the mother and father where the mother seemed significantly older (and the actress is 6 years older IRL).
