In a weird sort of Love/Hate Los Angeles relationship way, I needed this.

I've been re-watching Entourage and it's been stirring up all those great memories about how fun things were in the mid-late 2000s in LA.

A new season of Bosch should provide that slap in the face of current LA reality (that I need).

I have been searching for a new show to start and just realized that I never made it around to the original Bosch. My only question is this...how does a homicide detective live in what has to at least be a $6-8MM home in the hills? Does the show ever answer this?

I think they do in the first season.

He got his money from a movie or book made about him in LA.

Yes, they do.

And the other thing to remember with Los Angeles Real Estate is - there have been two major dips in the past 30ish years.

1 - after the 1994 Northridge quake
2 - after the subprime collapse (there was a point around 2010 where I was $200k underwater on my house)

So, if... you were able to time the market, you probably paid a lot less than what things are worth today. See - Pacific Palisades residents.

The original Bosch series is one of the best ever made. Great acting ,character development and great chemistry among the characters.

Plus they follow Michael Connelly's books closely which means they have great plots.

If you enjoy books, Connelly's Bosch series and Lincoln Lawyer are hard to beat

The thing I like about Bosch, is that since it's set in Hollywood Division, they don't shy away from showing the growth in the homeless population.

They subtly address some of the stuff that went on with Rampart Division.

Anyway, in my opinion, it's gritty enough to not sugar coat how dirty LA is - and how much you need to understand some Spanish if you're going to live there.

One of my favorites. I really like the LA crime shows for some reason, but This show is so good.

Mentioned on the thread already, but additional detail:

A movie was made based on a Bosch case. "The Black Echo". It's been a while since I watched the series, but I believe he made mucho dinero off of that.

It was on Freevee, which apparently Amazon shut down in November and folded it into the rest of Prime Video.

I thought the first episode was pretty weak but the next three really picked up the pace. I'm enjoying what I'm watching and would definitely recommend it.

Legacy season 3, like 1 and 2, is good but does not approach the original Bosch series in quality of stories, script, acting or chemistry.

Much like Game of Thrones, as the stories got farther away from the original books, which is the case in the Legacy series, the quality of the stories and plots deteriorated.

Also IMO part of the greatness of the original Bosch series was the chemistry with JR, and all of the regulars at the police station. That has not been replaced now that Harry is a PI and solo. Additionally Maddie has always been a weak link and her expanded role in the Legacy series has been more of a negative than positive.

So bottom line - good and worth watching but a definite notch below the original.

The season is complete and I'd give it a solid B+. There were a couple of episodes that dragged but there was a lot of vintage Bosch. A big shock murder in the middle that provides the main story line for the the remaining episodes.

The final episode was not so much a conclusion of Bosch Legacy as it was introducing Maggie Q as Detective Rene Ballard whose series will be coming this summer to Prime.

Maggie Q looks to be an excellent selection to play Ballard. The Ballard book series by Michael Connelly is excellent and I expect the TV series to be entertaining as well.
