A funny thing about the Jonestown bit, it wasn't actually Kool-aid that they all drank to commit suicide. It was a similar product called flavor aid.

It's a great point that they mention right there during the bit

Other than Seth Rogen's character not being even remotely believable as a studio head (though I realize that's kind of sort of part of the shtick), and the show giving next to no reason why he was chosen first place (other than he loves movies and wanted the job since he was a kid)...

I had a bigger problem with this in the second episode than the first. The stuff he was doing to ruin the one shot was so amateur that you really had to wonder how he got the job. I get he doesn't catch on to everyone sucking up to him just to get stuff, but doing stuff like talking in the middle of a take or walking in on the middle of a take was like he had never been on set before. I didn't blame the car bring in the way on him, though. Someone clearly moved the other car behind his and never said, "This other car is going to ruin the shot!"

Great new show. It has a lot of potential with all the cameos. Love when Hollywood pokes fun at themselves.

Ron Howard being a vindictive dick is way more believable than Seth Rogan as a studio head.

The "never forget" line and delivery by Kathryn Hahn absolutely killed me.

Kathryn Hahn's character is so fully realized - from her line delivery to her styling/costuming and performance, she is stealing every scene she's in, without derailing the scene. It's fantastic and an utter joy to watch.

Started watching the show tonight and just finished Ep 2. Really enjoying it, but the 2nd episode was so difficult and uncomfortable to watch. I wanted to yell at my TV the entire episode.

Watching all 3 of these in one sitting was a BAD idea. It's been a long time since a comedy had me that stressed out and laughing at the same time.

British Office and Curb and The Curse were cringy funny, but never that frantic.

Good lord, I felt like I just watched a track meet with people sprinting around for 3 hours yelling at each other, and it was hilarious.

Go ahead and give Seth Rogen and Kathryn Hahn their Emmys now (though I'm not sure Catherine O Hara isnt coming to steal it from Hahn later).

Also hilarious with the Bond news this week, because OHara is SO clearly based on Amy Pascal who is taking over that.

As much as I've liked the show so far, it wasn't until this week's episode - episode four - that the overall vibe/farce element finally and totally clicked for me. Going into the season, I think I was expecting something more true to real life and a little less zany/winky? But the tongue-in-cheek Chinatown thing worked so well for me and, IMO, is the best representation so far of what this show actually is and can be.

I was also shocked at how game Olivia Wilde was to play into the whole hated-director thing, in the wake of all the Don't Worry Darling drama. Props to her for at least having a sense of humor about it, I guess.

Regardless, great episode all around.

Came to say exactly these words.

As the whole back half is unraveling, I'm like "wait, they got HER to do THAT?"

I mean, if you're gonna trust someone to satirize you, Rogen and Goldberg are the ones. And you can't have been romantically involved with Sudeikis for that long without having a sense of humor.

Zac Efron, in the magic of timing, showing up and being hilarious just 2 weeks after his lil bro became a walking meme of "we had the wrong brother the whole time", due to the Traitors, you can't make this stuff up. (Prob 50K watch this show and like 5M watch the Traitors- but some of us noticed!)

Apple is keeping a pretty tight lid on who they've got guesting, and this is the rare show where I don't even want to know. Actively avoiding reading the brief description when I pull up the new ep.

I'm enjoying the show. I'll watch every episode. But everyone yelling all the time is exhausting.

What's the deal with sit-coms and yelling? Did someone in the dawn of television prove that yelling makes things funny? Thank you Desi Arnez.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's the running for me that's exhausting, less than the yelling.

The yelling is totally realistic in many businesses.

The constant running. No. People just yell on the phone all day.

Rogen went from fat to skinny and now just sprints these entire episodes.

My main problem with the yelling is how annoying Seth Rogan is when yelling.

Tonight's episode was waaaaay too manic, and weirdly almost mean-spirited in a way that was just a complete turnoff for me. It didn't help that there wasn't a single celebrity cameo either, something that should be a prerequisite every week, as shallow as that sounds. I don't know, there was just nothing fun or funny at all about this episode, which felt designed solely to give Rogen a break, acting-wise.
20ag07
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, there was nothing fun with that ep.

Unfortunately, that's what you do when you condition us to celebrity cameos. That bad episode might have been somewhat salvaged by having one alone.

Also, where the hell did Hahn and O'Hara go? Hahn could have saved that episode by getting in the middle of that.

(This all just ends up with me doing a rewatch of Entourage, which for all its faults, had many many great moments.). This is mostly just a cerebral, way too inside baseball version of that, without the relatable non-inside baseball pieces. And I'm 99% sure I saw all of this episode's plot points in Entourage.

Fun side note probably only you will get. I spent a huge chunk of the past 4 months onboarding Lionsgate as a client. And they've been nothing but a huge PITA.

So, when this came up at the start (and has every episode, but I was probably multi-tasking on their bullsht to notice in the other eps), I was triggered on this one out the gate.

Man, I'm a huge Rogen fan (read and loved his autobiography) and I'm really enjoying this. Last one was the weakest of them all, but still had some moments. The Smile ripoff and pitch was pretty funny. And the burrito cracked me up.

Also, bc inside baseball is fun, and no one is watching this without having some degree of inside baseball…

Everyone thinks Mike DeLuca (the Seth Rogen of Warner fkn Bros), is getting fired. My real estate agent, who I've done 4 deals with, emails me today she's got an $18M Off-Market for sale in the neighborhood. She does not include any of the following, however I'm savvy and want to know who's $18M house is for sale.

That would be Mike DeLuca's primary residence. So when that studio head version of Seth Rogen gets fired IRL soon, you're gonna know he saw it coming bc he was already working on selling the $18M house (outside of MLS).

(And this is a tidbit Matt Belloni would probably love, but sometimes TexAgs knows things and that's what you get here occasionally….that most people don't care about).

Hilarious only because Seth Rogen sold his car to Zac Efron for $2.5M to save the Olivia Wilde movie, and the Warner Bros head that's on the chopping block might be selling his $18M house to save…something on their disaster slate.

(And I didn't pop open my email this morning expecting to get dirt on a studio head's real estate downgrades in a very non-industry way, but somehow here I am.)

OK- this week's episode friggin nailed it.

Sometimes you get lucky. That episode coming on the heels of Sinners winning the box office- pure luck.

Also, I watched the Super Bowl, but probably was distracted by other things.

Apple bought a super expensive SB spot for this show which was the "Duhpocalype" trailer this whole episode was about.

Genius.

90 seconds of Hahn goes a long way, give me like 360 seconds of that every week please.

What a brilliant episode/commentary on the ridiculousness of how race and identity politics are approached in Hollywood.

I really can't believe Apple of all places let that one get to air. They are known to micromanage stuff in this space. Especially with the huge AI thing at the end.

Also- I assume they are getting permission to use actors in stuff like this. There has to be some joke I'm not getting with their instistence on mispronouncing Josh Duhamel's name like 8 times.

I go to set a few days during a shoot and when I do I completely ignore the crew parking instructions and park right on set. However I immediately give my keys to transpo or a PA.
