I like Cavill, and he certainly looks the part, but he's probably just a bit too old at this point, and more importantly, IMO, I just don't think he quite has the rizz to pull off the more cheeky/flirty/playful elements of the character.

I didn't see a Cinematic Universe for Bond working. Unless you're going to also buy Mission Impossible and Bourne, and create a Spy Universe, I don't see how a Bond universe really differentiates itself from any other spy genre movie. Comic book universes work because they have a trove of characters they can pull from, and they have decades of stories so they already know what works. They've already turned all the Bond books into movies. There are some good Bond villains, but I don't really see any of them really being strong enough to carry their own movies. Bond is really the only great character.

He got EC credits on Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Justice League and ZS Justice League.

But we also don't know what he asked for or what he was offered to create DCEU.

He has the juice to name his own price, and if they won't meet it, he can walk.

Who else under 70 would have more juice to dictate complete control of Bond, especially if Amazon just paid Broccoli a billion to go away? Mendes did a great job with Skyfall, but he isn't close to Nolan.

I love Tarantino but wouldn't want to put him in charge. I do love Fincher, but again, he would be way below Nolan.

You absolutely, positively, have to go to Nolan first and see what it would take to get him and his brother to create the blueprint and write/direct at least a trilogy.

45 or 50 for Hollywood men in 2025 ain't what it was in 1970. It's more like 10 years younger for screen appearance among the dudes that take care of themselves. Case in point: Ryan Reynolds is 48 and Hugh Jackman is 56. Go google them on the press junket for Deadpool and Wolverine.

I don't think there is any question that actors (or people in general) don't typically look aged as much as they did back in the 60s-70s.

But Craig was also in incredible shape and didn't insist on doing all the stunts like Cruise does, and he was wildly complaining about the toll being Bond takes on the body while still in his 40s.

If you are talking about starting an entire universe and the first movie will come out in 3-4 years, you probably aren't going to pick a guy in his 40s just because he looks younger than a guy in his 40s in the 70s.

Obviously this won't happen due to the investment Amazon has made in the IP, but I wish No Time To Die was the final movie in the series. The world has changed so much over the decades and I just don't see how the classic Bond persona really fits into today's geopolitical and cultural climate. And given the events of No Time To Die, it makes for a fitting final film in an amazing decades long series.

We need casual sexual assault now more than ever? You can try to convince yourself that social norms are manufactured, but they aren't. People other than white men have money and purchasing power now. Companies respond to that, not the other way around. They try to appeal to as broad an audience as they can. And it works fine when there's good writers and directors and actors. Same as everything else.

I agree. I really have no desire to see a BCU.

I could possibly be up for renting an origin story for Jaws....maybe.

Or, maybe we will get an Office style mockumentary starring the workers on Moonraker.
