As far as other 00s, they come up but are rarely seen.

Scaramanga used the golden gun to kill 002 in The Man With a Golden Gun before the movie starts.

In A View to a Kill, the movie starts with MI6 sending Bond to Siberia to get a microchip off 003's body.


004 gets killed when they cut his rope in The Living Daylights.


The clown in Octopu-ssy is 009.


Thunderball features the only 00 meeting in the films

Completely agree here. The casting of Diana Rigg as Tracy was genius. OHMSS also has one of the best scores of all the Bond films.

Yall need to put some love on La Chiffre! For what it's worth, I think the biggest waste of talent, maybe in cinema history, was Christopher Lee as Scaramanga.

Broccolis didn't want Cavill as Bond after Craig because he was Superman, I believe.

Cavill auditioned for Casino Royale but they said he was too young.

I like Cavill, and he certainly looks the part, but he's probably just a bit too old at this point, and more importantly, IMO, I just don't think he quite has the rizz to pull off the more cheeky/flirty/playful elements of the character.

Ultimately, I'd go with an unknown, but if I had to choose from the current knowns/candidates, I'd go with Theo James.

If anything, IMO, James has way more natural, on-screen chemistry with women than Cavill, who has next to zero in that department. It's honestly kind of weird how little on-screen chemistry Cavill has with women.

As for their ages, I guess James just comes across as younger.

Again, though, I'm merely saying that of the current candidates James would be my pick.

But the current candidate list isn't that great to begin with.

Ultimately, I think they should go with a relative unknown, one who's younger than both James and Cavill, who can grow into the role and play it for fifteen years or so.

Realistically the next bond isn't coming out for 3-4 years. If they are going to reboot it they aren't picking a guy like Cavill. He'll be 45. Then reboot again in 2-3 movies?

If they are going to do an entire universe, they go younger

Tend to agree, even if they're ready to start filming inside 18 months it would still put either of them well into their 50s for a third/fourth film. Craig was 50ish when filming No Time to Die (film 5).

And I'm all in for a retro Bond universe.

And none of them were in Bond movies owned by Amazon that were part of an entire Bond universe across film and TV meant to last as long as corporately possible. The next Bond will 100% be under 40, and potentially even in his late 20s. For instance, Harris Dickinson is another current frontrunner for the role who I wouldn't mind, and he's only 28.

Broccoli apparently met with him, but after Kraven the Hunter bombed his Bond stock took a hit. That said, if 28 Years Later does well this summer, I could see him being a frontrunner again.

Personally, while I like him in certain roles, I'm not a huge fan of him as Bond, but I wouldn't be completely opposed to it either.

Lazenby was 29.

Connery was 41 in his last movie.

Dalton was 43 in his last movie

Brosnan was 49 in his last movie

Craig was 51 in his last movie.

Roger Moore was always too old. 45 first and 57 last.

But they are likely creating a cinematic universe and it is doubtful the first movie is before 28 or 29, since it doesn't sound like they even have a script and obviously haven't started casting.

Cavill turns 42 in a couple months. He will be 45 in 2028. He's obviously in better shape that Roger Moore ever dreamed of being, but that's way too old to start a cinematic universe around.

I think the oldest they would consider is someone in their mid-30s like Taron Egerton or Dev Patel, especially if they plan to reboot the entire career or something.

Also remember that back when Connery through Brosnan, they seemed to do one about every two years. They did 20 Bonds in 40 years from Dr No to Die Another Day. In the 23 years since Die Another Day, we have 5 Bonds.

A new Bond movie every 3 years is probably optimistic. So you really can't pick a guy that is on the old side of the continuum of Bond if you want to create a universe around it, unless you plan to reboot every decade or so.

If I had to guess, I'd say it goes something like...

- A new, theatrical Bond movie every three years starting in 2028.

- One, 8-10 episode spinoff/origin show season of TV per year between Bond movies focusing on side/ancillary/villain characters.

- The actor playing Bond is required to make an extended cameo appearance (1-2 episodes) in at least one spinoff season between Bond movies.

In other words...

2028 - Bond movie 1 in theaters
2029 - spinoff/origin show season on Amazon Prime Video
2030 - spinoff/origin show season on Amazon Prime Video
2031 - Bond movie 2 in theaters
2032 - spinoff/origin show season on Amazon Prime Video
2033 - spinoff/origin show season on Amazon Prime Video

... etc, etc, rinse and repeat through the mid-2040s or so with the same cast.

And if it's Nolan directing, that timeline starts instead in 2029.

Either way, as much as I would love to see this entire universe take place across the '60s and '70s, I'm afraid all of these movies/shows being period pieces would simply cost way too much, seeing as period pieces are more expensive in general than modern-set fare, relatively speaking.

That said, I could easily see *one* of the Prime Video series being, say, an origin story/early adventures of MI6, pre-Bond. Something along those lines.

I just don't see Nolan doing this at this point. Unless he like has this incredible idea that only works with Bond, I think he doesn't really have anything to gain and everything to lose by cinematic universe building.

But you know who does have his foot in the tv and movie world to great success…Fincher. I'd love to see that and it feels realistic to me too.

Nolan has publicly wanted to do Bond and obviously he is a British filmmaker that grew up with Bond.

He walked away when Broccolis wouldn't get him control. I could definitely see him and his brother wanting to develop the universe and keep some sort of control (and financial interest) in all of it, even what he doesn't direct.

Yes he has expressed interest publicly, but the strings attached have kept him from doing it and although the old strings (creative control) are possibly gone, the new strings (cinematic universe, continuity through tv/film) are also things he has run away from in the past, so it just doesn't seem realistic to me still. They should and probably will definitely shoot their shot, but I just think it's probably not a real fit given the business dynamics at play.
