This one was annoying. It was always meant to be Patrick Dempsey, but when they couldn't get him they made him another guy also named Mark.

Should've just paid Dempsey.

My theories on what they're doing in this movie in order if likelihood...

1. A flashback to Billy and Stu killing Sidney's mom (plus Roman planning the kill).
2. Both Roman and Stu are just in Sidney dream sequences.
3. Stu is alive and has been running everything behind the scenes since Scream 4.
4. The new killer is deepfaking all the previous GF killers and sending videos to Sidney as them.
5. New Nightmare scenario where all the actors are playing themselves.

I've heard some theories that make some sense to me.

If you're gonna actually have Stu be alive, you don't announce him beforehand.

However...if you throw in all the old killers as AI, you can announce everyone, and that can be your cover for having Stu be alive and it still be a surprise at the end.

Got my IMAX ticket for the fan screening tomorrow at 6 pm. Pretty full theater from the looks of it.

Can't wait.

Wow. Didn't realize how popular this thing was. Which is good because dang this season we're in at the box office needs it big time. Likely will be the highest grossing film for the winter season at the domestic box office if those numbers are accurate.

Can't be any worse than the last woke scream. I walked out on that one. I will wait to hear if this one truly returns to form

I will say that as a big fan of this franchise, I really enjoyed most of this movie.

Other than a few cheesy moments and a little bit of questionable acting at times, mostly from the new cast, this movie was pretty good for the first two acts of the movie. Was really enjoying all the callbacks to the original. (Even if they did go slightly overboard at times.)

But then, the last act came. And things took a big hit for me at that point.

Without getting into specifics, it almost felt like a COVID movie? Which is really weird since that had zero effect on this movie. I wonder if it was due to slapping together a new script after the Melissa Barrera debacle.

Most of our characters just disappear without explanation, all the streets are all empty, and it just felt a little off.

But the biggest issue was the reveal for me. It wasn't the who, it was the why. Maybe the most nonsensical one in the entire franchise.

Won't expand further, but if you've seen it, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I really hope Scream 8 happens, because I would hate for this series to go out on this note. I wouldn't say a low note, but pretty much the definition of mid.

$64M domestic, $97M global, both franchise records.

And the best February opening for any horror movie domestically.

Economics will drive a Scream 8, but they need to reboot or do some refreshing of this idea. The Neve Campbell storyline is done. The movie was ok, but just not real exciting.

They probably need to Avengers it and bring back Barrera and Ortega.

Personally I think their story is done but it would get all the Palestine crowd back onside.

Maybe bring in the mom as well, who we've never seen.

Hell, make her the killer. A ton of stuff to mine there with animosity between her and Sidney.
