I've done the first 16 random draw matchups. So far only one will really piss you off, that's a decent start.
My first thought was that the TV of the past 25 years is better than the movies of the same time period.MookieBlaylock said:

Well Gladiator is probably my favorite of the 25 years and my favorite to win the tournament. The other 3 seem unlikely to win since they didn't make the cut.Trajan88 said:
My favorites: Girl w/ the Dragon Tattoo (original, foreign language ver.), Gladiator, Casino Royale, and Downfall.
We'll do that one next, because people are always rational on what TV shows are the bestBuck Turgidson said:My first thought was that the TV of the past 25 years is better than the movies of the same time period.MookieBlaylock said:

I did that about 8 times while trying to make the initial list, most embrassingly with Heat, which came out in 1995.LB12Diamond said:
I was about to say how the heck is The Green Miles not on the list but had no idea it came out in 99. Dang. Time goes by to fast.

I'm intentionally stacking it so it's LOTR vs. TTT, and the winner goes against the winner of ROTK and Avatar.Brian Earl Spilner said:The Porkchop Express said:

If you put any LOTR up against Gladiator in round 1, we're having words.

After giving it some thought, it does feel off to not put some comedies in the tournament.
Here is a proposed list of 6 movies to remove that I think nobody cares about.
1. Chicago
2. Crash
3. Moonlight
4. The Shape of Water
5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas
6. Spider-Man 3
I'm open to all nominations through the end of today for 6 COMEDIES from 2000-2024 to replace these.
My initial thoughts, which can certainly be changed based on groupthink, are:
1. The Hangover
2. Superbad
3. Wedding Crashers
4. Tropic Thunder
5. Step Brothers
6. Anchorman or the 40 year old Virgin or Old School
Also on the advice of a wise anonymous poster, I'm swapping out "Hunger Game: Catching Fire" with Ocean's 11 because "everyone here has watched Ocean's 11 300 times".
The person who noticed I had 2 of the same movie suggested Hell or High Water as a replacement so that's what I went withLB12Diamond said:The Porkchop Express said:Well Gladiator is probably my favorite of the 25 years and my favorite to win the tournament. Gladiator and Million Dollar Baby are easily my top 2. No Country for Old Man maybe 3rd. 4th have many to pick from. Not an obvious 4th for me. Maybe Dune if it were one complete movie together but no dice.
And I don't want to that guy bc you are doing all the work. Surprised you have Hell or High Water instead of Sicario. Or did I miss it on the list.
Replace Avatar with Two Towers easily.Brian Earl Spilner said:
