Ugh, this one kills me. But other than that, it's a great movie and I enjoy the dialog.

You got any others that just kinda stand out for being force?

You know what happens to a toad when it gets struck by lightning?

Probably doesn't fit what the idea you had for the thread, but I would have had to be forced to say that line if I read it in the script.

"Hey, Dad... Wanna have a catch?" Field of Dreams

Not forced, just not said correctly. Anyone who's ever played baseball at any point in life knows it's PLAY catch, not have a catch. Always irked me in an otherwise flawless film. Costner even spoke about it in interviews.

The worst part of that movie. I think that's the only time the series broke the fourth wall. Completely unnecessary.

The Dark Knight is obviously great but the SWAT guy making bird analogies during the car chase / hijack sequence always bothered me.

Edit: and when the mob leaders are being arrested and a cop says "have a nice trip, see you next fall."

I think that was Nicky Katt from Boiler Room. I always thought it weird he went from a secondary character in several movies to a minor character that wasn't even credited.

"Have a catch" is a regional thing. Northeastern U.S., according to Copilot.

Doug in "King of Queens" says "have a catch" on a couple of different episodes.

Not a bad line, but it was delivered super serious. Delivered in a different tone and it would be fine, maybe even funny.

From Return of the Jedi, when Luke reveals to Leia that they are siblings, her response seemed unlikely. I mean, this is a dude she had kissed twice on screen. And it was just "I know, somehow I've always known". The only thing was a bit of a pullback facially, but no shock or disgust, just yep, what next?

I know there is the scene in Empire where Luke calls out to her and she "hears" him, but the dialogue in this sequence in Jedi largely sucks.

I grew up with "have a catch." Didn't realize it was a regional thing until this thread.

I can't remember the details but the reason that line was so terrible was due to another scene getting cut between toad and storm and she was turning a similar line on him…

That's interesting and makes sense. Would be a good thread on scene removals that later confuse the movie.

Like I never really cared about the Octopus reference in the Goonies because it worked. Just chalk it up to a boy being excited and embellishing. Vs this terrible toad line

"Have a catch" is definitely a regional thing. When I was a kid, a kid from Connecticut joined our little league team and said "have a catch". We all looked at him like he was from Mars.

I might be just me, but I have hated every one of James Bond "kill" lines.

It's a shame because I love the movies.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Agreed. If you've "always known" then why did you make out with your brother, repeatedly? ****ing creep.

They had a bit on The Rewatchables podcast about how The Wolf is overrated. Like he's some criminal mastermind for telling them to clean the car.

Rewatchables is great. Just discovered it and that Predator one and Roadhouse were soooo good.

But funny point that is totally correct about the Wolf

I signed up to Spotify just to go through the back catalog. Say what you want about Bill Simmons but I swear that guy is my movie twin. Realized this 20+years ago reading his Page 2 columns.

Watching it now. They should have completely cut that scene apart from giving us the line of "piss my pants and forget who I was for a half hour or so"
