Has anyone been watching the new reality game show on CBS following Survivor?

16 normal people have to climb a New Zealand mountain in 14 days, losing people to obstacles and vote outs along the way. I binge watched last week and the finale was tonight. I very much enjoyed it. Felt like an early season of survivor and it will be really fun to watch how the producers evolve the gameplay in future seasons.

my wife and I enjoyed it. The physical challenge of the journey was too easy IMO, it seems like they always arrived at camp on the day they were supposed to. I wanted to see more sleeping in the bush and punishment for keeping the slow/fat people around.

I want to see them have to make the hard decision of trimming the fat or not making the summit. It never felt like the end goal was ever in jeopardy.

Really pleased with the overall structure of the show, and without spoiling the ending I thought the prize money was awarded in a very good way.

Enjoyed it. I do like the way they voted people out.

I have never laughed harder than when Beaux was "dismissed" from the show. My wife and mother in law gave me the weirdest look as I laughed maniacally.

That is how you dismiss someone from a reality show!!!!

I liked it at first and really enjoyed the premise. I think it needs to be harder, or the punishments more severe. I guess I'd like to see the rewards go to those who can earn it on the mountain versus being dragged along by others.

We watched each episode and it was good. We wonder how hard some of that stuff was in reality such that the older seemingly out of shape people completed every task except the first guy. They had to let Bo know what was going to happen or he would have had a heart attack. If they do it again, the game will change knowing how it ends. There may be more of a premium of keeping people that are fit enough to get to the end easier.

We dialed in thinking these people were up for an adventure and we wanted to watch them try to climb a mountain. Instead we got the runner ups from a Survivor casting call that apparently did nothing to prepare to climb said mountain. Then to make the Survivor rejects feel like they were on the island with Jeff Probst, they tell them to vote people off, play "their game", strategize, take out the stronger players.

They give them a time limit to reach each check point- and we are never told how much time they have, and other than the first one, no consequences for reaching checkpoint by certain time. And they NEVER are in a hurry to get anywhere or complete tasks. Let's all sit around and debate who goes next for each task, then cry about it.

And watch the obstacles again - some were a little sketchy if you don't like heights but others were made to look a lot scarier and more difficult than they really were. Deceptive camera angles making it look like they were higher than they were, or steeper than what they were climbing, and actually someone off screen pulling them up at the end of a ladder or rope climb.

Keeping slow out of shape people that are scared of heights and voting off strong leaders that will help you get to the summit makes ZERO sense - unless there is no consequence for not making a checkpoint on time.

Yet we watched the whole thing including the final tribal council and enjoyed some of the overly dramatic participants and the dumb decisions along the way. And a bridge collapsing with a contestant on it as a way of "voting them off" was pretty great!

If they make the beginning more difficult and they have to sleep in the bush a couple of nights, then I can see the physically weak getting voted off faster.

My recommendations:

  • If you sleep in the bush, 2 people voted off and next checkpoint is eliminated.
  • No more "touch the bag first". They need to have a mini game to determine who gets power, maybe whoever gets their harness/safety gear on first or a quick navigation challenge.
  • If you fall off an obstacle you are auto up for elimination that night. If you fall a second time during the entire show then you are "dead" and your money is lost (handed out to the voted winner).
  • Nominations are weird, hard to tell if everyone gets a chance to nominate? That Nom/Voting needs to be cleaned up.
  • Occasional blind vote or blind nomination to mix it up
  • On leg 5 or 6 have a time limit to reach next checkpoint early and everyone is safe (will encourage the removal of dead weight if they tell them prior to vote that tomorrow has a speed advantage).
  • Earn money on the way up for perfect group obstacle performance. Every obstacle worth increasing $ amount, if anyone falls then poof, no additional money. Maybe total prize starts at 700k with 300k earnable?
  • Add in navigational skills, it seems they are told where to go.

This should be a physical show. I am not saying the heavier people didn't work hard, but let's go ahead and let everyone know that if you are not in shape and slow the team down, then it is highly likely you will be booted quick and in a hurry, it is not fun watching you wheeze your way up an escalator.

-Scenery was incredible.
-I was surprised when they showed the height of the summit was only 8000 ft. That doesn't seem like a two week hike.
-The vote out process was weird. They should go in the tent and vote privately for whoever they want sometimes. Also they should do something to encourage them to vote out the slower people, I don't care what.
-And man they were really proud of that helicopter!
