I wish I could say I was writing a book or something. But I'm not. I'm just a music nut.

Elvis played at the Houston rodeo in 1974. Was anyone there? If so I want to know everything about his performance and your experience that night.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

I was there with my friend and our dates. We were about five rows from the top of the dome. All I remember was the two girls fighting to use the one pair of binoculars that we had.

My parents were there. I wish I would have been. They took me to see Vikki Carr in 1976 instead.

I saw Elvis at the Dome around that time. Maybe 1972. I was 6. Went with a friend, sat on the first row of the Mezzanine section, and all I remember was this tiny dude at about second base wearing a bright white outfit.

Edit - I looked it up and found he performed at the Dome in 1970 and 1974. It would not have been 1970, since I would have only been 3, so yes, I was at his performance in 1974.

We didn't see Elvis then but did see him in Shreveport in July 1976. He was fat, out of breath and sweating profusely. He would start out singing the first couple words of Hound Dog and stop, teasing the audience for far too long. Frankly he was a shell of his former self. But the women went nuts anyway. I mean ape***** They stood on flimsy metal chairs, ran up to kiss him and get a scarf and they screamed like children. I mean all ages too. There were women in their 70's to 20's going nuts. It was actually a fun evening. Elvis died the following year.

I was likely there in a past life. I think Elvis at the Rodeo would've had to have been one the coolest things to check off as an event, even if he was a little past his prime.

This video is labeled as the 1970 show, but you can clearly see the chutes for the rodeo as he enters and leaves in the Bronco:

As a guy who recently turned 50, it's crazy how much life he crammed into 42 years.

My parents & grandparents went to see Elvis in 1972 in San Antonio in the HemisFair Arena. Also they saw him in Houston in 1970 & 1974.

Also my great uncle was in the 3rd Armored Division in Germany with Elvis in 1959 & 1960.

My dad was in the VII Corps in Stuttgart, West Germany from 1959-1962 during the time Elvis was there.

ETA - my dad also said that the word around Stuttgart was that Elvis was a real troop and actually did work, he didn't try to get out of stuff because he was a celeb.

No, but the guy who was my early music mentor and got me started playing drums, the legendary George H. "Red" Novak, called Elvis a "smartass hillbilly" and kicked his ass out of H&H Music in downtown Houston, back in the day. True story.

No, to Elvis, but I saw Roy Rogers and Dale Evans in the late '60s
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.
