How did this fellow Texan hit gold with virtually everything he touches? Sicario, Wind River, Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Lioness, and now Landman. Pretty sure I missed some.

Tulsa King too, right?

I just picture him next to a pile of cocaine typing furiously on a laptop and then when it wears off, he loses interest and starts another series on his next binge.

He filled a void in television that nobody else saw or at least interested in touching.

Forgot Tulsa King. Great show.

Lol at the cocaine comment. BTW, if you haven't seen his Joe Rogan interview, it's worth watching.

Did he not create those or you don't care for them? Honest question.

Yes.

I posted this on another thread.

He is genius. He creates entertainment media that red state/flyover country absolutely love. At the same time, blue state/big city/costal folks are completely perplexed by it and can't stop watching either.

Not unlike the election a few weeks ago, the market is there.

Do all of his shows just eventually devolve into featuring him turning his horse around in little circles for hours on end?

As somebody who grew up on a horse farm and riding horses, I still have no idea why this always happens lol.

It a reining horse competition trick/skill. Kind of fun to do, serves no particularly useful purpose. Just like the long sliding stop with special rear shoes.

He hits are great, but most of his stuff is just soap operas with horses.

He brought testosterone back to television and film and that's why he has been so successful. Yeah some of his TV stuff like Yellowstone goes overboard with the seesaw drama but no more than Dallas back in the 80s.

No more than Dallas?

Were Jock, Bobby, and J.R. sending one person per episode to the train station to keep the South Fork operating?

How is Jeremy Renner these days after the accident? Is he going to be able to work again in the physical roles he has always done?

He's back working again. Filmed the 3rd season of mayor of Kingstown. Don't think he will be as active as before

He brought back testosterone for men AND women. He loves creating unrealistically combative and horny female characters.

Yellowstone hits so many fantasy touch buttons for Red State folks.

For the men, you have land that's been in your family for generations and everyone wants a piece of it. You do whatever it takes to preserve your rightful stewardship over that land and to protect your family. Property rights vs the Government and shady business people.

For the women, Beth Dutton is basically a bat**** crazy woman that can do whatever she wants and say whatever she wants and when it gets her into a bad situation the mysterious and rugged Rip will show up and whip the **** out of some dude or kill them and take them to the train station. Basically millions of women's wet dream.

I've never watched Yellowstone but Mayor of Kingstown is awesome, also just finished s2 of Tulsa King and really enjoyed it. Might check out Lioness, looks interesting.

On lioness, I liked season 1.

Season 2 tough to get into. Watched two episodes, may not make three

I rewatched the first one this weekend, it just doesn't get old to me. The border crossing/shootout scene is an all-timer to me, it's incredible.

Sicario 2 reminded me too much of Sheridan's other work when he starts out on a high point and then there's diminishing returns. Though if he writes another I'd still go see it on opening weekend. When he sticks with original material it's hard for him to be beaten IMO. Sicario, Wind River, Hell or High Water are all great. Those Who Wish Me Dead was fine for a straight to streaming movie during the pandemic. Without Remorse is the only one I didn't care for but it's also not original material for him, it's from Tom Clancy.

My father in law is continually under the belief that Taylor Sheridan is going to want to turn his still-unfinished historical East Texas fiction book into his next big series.
