Introduced B-man to "The Blues Brothers" today.

Thought he would fall off the couch at times from laughing so hard.

Truly one of the best comedies ever.

They wrecked ALL the police cars in that movie.

Sidebar: I was invited by friends to see Blues Brothers 2000 at the dollar movie sometime after it came out.

Thankfully I found a dime on the floor and was only out 90 cents because that movie suuuucked.

BB 2000 should have been my first and only lesson about delayed money grab sequels. I was so excited about this movie and saw it in the theater. What a let down.
Well…you sounded taller on radio.

Never saw that sequal.

Dan Akroyd and John Belushi had amazing chemistry together. Couldn't imagine anyone replacing John

So did OP's kid not fall off the couch laughing so hard?

As for BB2000, I skipped that one and have never bothered to watch it. That movie had absolutely no shot at being worthy of a watch given that there was no John Belushi. His brother is good in his own right, but he's not John Belushi good.

My dad let me watch this movie as a little kid, and I've loved it ever since. I probably watch it once a year now.

Blues Brothers 2000 has a tremendous soundtrack and one perfect somber note of Danny's tribute to Belushi, but that's it.

Debating if I should let him watch "Animal House."

"Porky's" he can search out on his own.

My dad took me to see Animal House when I was in 6th grade. That movie remains ridiculously funny to me now, but I'll say it didn't influence my behavior once I arrived at A&M.

Aretha knocked it out of the park in that movie.

I would say no on Animal House unless you want him emulating what he sees in the film.

First time I saw that movie, during the final police chase when the BB car seems to just lift itself up over a bunch of police cars (like no Dukes of Hazzard ramp) I said "NO WAY" and my brother calmly looks at me and says "They're on a mission from God!"....laughed so hard when he said that.

Blazing Saddles should be next IMO

Nah. After Matt "Guitar" Murphy and Blue Lou left, she had nothing and knew it.

Anyone else see John Landis when he came to A&M in the 90's? He did a Q&A before they showed Blues Brothers. At the time he was in the planning stages of BB2000.

I purposely sought out the Picasso in Chicago and my kids played on it. Next step was casually turning on the Blues Brothers a year later & watching them get excited to see the place they were.

That movie introduced a very young me to so much great music.

Years ago at a "mandatory fun" work event, 60 of us were sitting in a room and everyone had to introduce ourselves and say what our favorite movie was. More than half the guys said Blues Brothers.

there is that one topless scene which might be kind of embarrassing if Mom's in the room...maybe leave to make popcorn at that point!

Yes, I was there in Rudder auditorium. I don't remember much other than I was excited as a fan of BB and that he talked about the record number of cars they wrecked during filming. I wish I had a better memory of details, I just remember being amazed he was there talking to us college kids.

I was in second grade in Bastrop, TX and my parents took me with them to see Airplane!

I still remember being so confused when they randomly cut to those jiggling mammaries and my dad bust out laughing so loud it echoed in the theater.

Yep, one of my favorite soundtracks of all time.

Airplane! is a lifelong commitment. I've seen the movie literally dozens of times and still catch some random joke or gag that I missed before, even after all these years.
