Watch this movie before week's end or I'll be greatly disappointed in you.

I was a huge Michael Mann fan and the vibe of the entire movie is classic Michael Mann, and this is probably the last one of his movies as a director that I l've enjoyed. Miami Vice movie was pretty lame. He's been a producer for some good ones, but hit a dry spell as a director IMO
O.G.

Thats a great shooting drill.

Agreed, classic Michael Mann. Love his work and the tone of all his movies. Yes, even Miami Vice. In fact, I find that one to be very rewatchable for some reason. It's flawed but very entertaining to me because of the characters.

Collateral is one of the few action movies I can put on and fall asleep to it.

The look of Miami Vice was great and true to form. But the ridiculous chinese colombian cartel lady and the love story angle with Sonny wrecked that movie IMO. Mumbly, constantly brooding Sonny didn't help either. Just came off as odd. They were close to having something good, but that all being core to it messed it up.

This is such a good movie. The way it's shot, the action-sequences, the score, the writing -- all really solid. Some movies are a vibe, and this is one.

What's going on at weeks end?

Is it leaving a streaming service somewhere?

Great movie. The grit and grind of it all while having A list star power. I thought this film put Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx in a new light as actors and boosted their career to a new level.

My favorite scene in the movie. Cruise's draw and form here is fantastic. Love the pursuit of authenticity in movies like this:

I think this may be my favorite Cruise role. I wish he was the bad guy more often.

However, one has to REALLY suspend disbelief that a guy like Cruise's character would try any of that. Or that the mob would hire ONE guy to kill all those people in one night. Or that he would "enlist" a cab driver in hope that the guy doesn't screw any of it up.

Cruise was great. But the overall story was meh, in my opinion.

Wow... your life sounds miserable if that's your take from a movie.

I'm a big Tom Cruise fan, and I saw "Collateral" in the theaters when it was first released. All I remember about the movie is.... Tom Cruise with grey hair.

I remember a bunch of stuff from Top Gun: Maverick, including... Tom Cruise with black hair. Seriously, Maverick was a great movie, and I really don't remember enough about Collateral to speak.

Maybe a rewatch is in order.

The story makes perfect sense. Get in and out of town, do the jobs, only have one witness which is the cab driver then execute him at the end.

I've always liked Collateral. Saw in theaters years ago, and rewatched a few months ago. Still holds up

It's hilarious how you guys can't allow a movie you like to take a hint of criticism.

I can allow very easily. I can also respond and say your opinion is stupid. Your level of criticism can be leveled against 99% of movies, and is just stupid.

But feel free to have stupid opinions.

It makes zero sense. Why not just drive himself? That way, he'd have ZERO witnesses and nobody in the way who can alert police or grab your briefcase to throw it in the highway, drive your car at a hundred miles an hour and then roll it, or get you killed at the end.

There is a reason people don't conduct murders this way. Especially not the mob, who had plenty of murderers of their own to task.

I thought the movie established that he is able to pin the murders on the cabbies he uses. Maybe I'm not remembering right.

It's one thing to suspend disbelief for a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously (like John Wick), it's another to do so for one that does (this one).

I didn't say this make the movie bad. It just make it "meh".

BTW, your butthurt pleases me.

You remember right (assuming I remember right). I just think that idea is preposterous.

If they had figured out a way to make the Jamie Foxx part an accident and not part of some big 10D chess plan, then it would have been more believable, IMO. Like maybe have Jamie Foxx witness a Cruise murder, and then when Tom Cruise comes to kill him, Jamie Foxx convinced him not to do it (say that the cops will just chase his cab) and so that Cruise takes him hostage and makes him drive instead of just killing him outright and stealing the cab for himself. I think a small change like that could have gone a long way.

Mann knows what he's doing with his music and scores. The setup when Graham says "You've seen these films!" in Manhunter still gives me chills.
