I bought a pair of 50 dollar tickets when there was a School of Rock broadway show coming to Bass Concert Hall. Somehow, I ended up in the first row, dead center. We could see the orchestra texting on their phones between numbers.

It kicked ass. The kids really played their instruments and all were super talented.

My wife and I really like this movie.

Great movie, great Broadway show. A fave of ours in both styles.

At the ELO concert in Dallas Friday night, the guy a few rows in front of us reminded us of JB in this role. Completely over the top head banging and rock horns and all of that. It was hilarious.

I showed this movie to my oldest son when he was 10 and he fell in love with music. We bought him a guitar and enrolled him in the local School of Rock and it was his favorite thing all through middle and high school. 10 years later he plays guitar in bands in college, makes music on his MacBook and worships Linklater - everybody wants some is his favorite movie and we just finished discussing the Before trilogy. We've been to dozens of concerts together and he's way more into music than I ever was. You never know with kids - he saw rocky also at age 10 and wanted to be a boxer.

I have no idea but my guess would be Joel McHale because he seems to always get cast in ill advised remakes. Google The IT Crowd US pilot, yikes.

And yes, this movie is a blast.
