Quo Vadis?
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Currently sitting in an empty theater in Abu Dhabi watching this one. Surprised to not see a thread on it. Smile 1 was great and I have heard that this one is even better. Will let you know my thoughts in 2 hours.

Goodness gracious do not go see this movie. It's good but it's one of the scariest most disturbing movies I've seen. It is like the first one only with the graphic gore turned up to a million. I do not get squeamish in movies or around blood, but thought I was going to get sick at one moment.

I really hate when movies do this. It's a perfectly good movie without the extremely explicit gore scenes, the premise itself is scary, the "smile" part is extremely creepy, but they feel the need to throw in what I consider dismemberment porn. Really took the movie away from being an enjoyable experience for me

That seems to be what is selling at the moment. Terrifier 3 is just gore porn and it won last weekend.

Still think the people that come up with that amount of gore/torture porn stuff need to be in a mental hospital

Saw this last evening. Not near as good as the first one. I sensed they were trying to do too much with this flick, it was a mess.

Vicious and sadistic barbaric cruelty is what's selling as entertainment.

Am I so old as to find that disturbing?

Especially in our era when you can watch or listen to real events.

But who am I to say anything having enjoyed gratuitous violence my entire life. Love those Tarantino films.

I guess I've contributed to that progression.

But I digress on this here entertainment forum...

I found it disturbing. Just totally gratuitous. The exorcist is one of my favorite movies, I like Event Horizon, the first SAW movie; but this just seemed like "how can we just ratchet the gore up to the max"?

i thought this was horrible. I went to see this since I liked the first one. This one was disjointed, had a hard time staying awake most of the time.

Loved it.
Some slower parts in the middle but the last 30 minutes were a wild ride.
We liked it better than the first

The over the top gore doesn't really get to me because it is so ridiculous.

The movie scene I had to walk out of the theatre on was in Hannibal. When Lecter took Ray Liotta's skull cap off and fed him his own brain

Ok can someone spoiler tag the gore yall are referring to and tell me how bad it is? I'm similarly not a fan of torture porn, would never watch Terrifier, but I can handle it in bits and pieces.

Loved Smile 2. Rare case of the sequel being better than the original. Naomi Scott was wonderful in this and it does a great job showing the decline of celebrity with addiction and vice and how isolating it can be

Yes it's gory but I don't even think I flinched at this from that perspective compared to the substance

Great, great horror movie. Probably even better than the first (and the first is excellent). Yes, they ramped up the gore - but the tension and creepiness is still there in spades. What separates it from the first is Naomi Scott's performance. She's absolutely amazing in this, and the unraveling of a troubled celebrity is just a more interesting subject matter than the first. Although the final scene in the first one is a better climax than this one in my opinion.

Also some really terrific technical specs and camera work - the opening scene is fantastic. The car flashback with her boyfriend, and the scene with all the smilers in her apartment, are both super cool and impressive.

Horror might not be everyone's bag, but if it is... this franchise is currently at the top of the leaderboard. They are both legitimately scary as hell.

I don't really like torture porn at all, and this one definitely has gore but it didn't really bother me. The thing people are probably referencing is a guy bashing his face in with a gym plate. It's pretty over the top but I wouldn't let it deter you from this movie if you enjoy horror. It's damn good.
