Some **** bothers some of us, other **** bothers other people, this is a place to vent about it, if you don't agree you can probably at least see that from a different perspective it tracks, no need for constant insults.

Yeah the part I don't agree with is telling other people what they are allowed to think or post. That's totally bs. We all think differently - be respectful and agree to disagree. None of us has a right to force our thoughts on others or restrict our thoughts/posting other than what the mods deem necessary.

Let's at least acknowledge that this goes the other way as well. I agree with you, but there are also plenty of cases where people call some of these movies the greatest thing before seeing it, or go into it with their minds made up that it's an amazing piece of cinema, simply bc of those casting changes/narrative "updates", then rush to defend any criticism as misogyny/racism/et al.

Agreed. And yet, the same usual suspects will be the first to attack those of us responding to what we see in the media or Hollywood.

It's always the same thing. Hollywood announces or releases a movie that is obviously pushing "the message", so some of us on the ET board come here to post about our displeasure at the direction of Hollywood, specifically pointing to the most recent announcement.

We are then shouted down by others on the board and gaslit by the same, being accused of being the "F16" crowd. We are made out to be the ones making a big deal about everything, when all we are doing is reacting to what Hollywood is emphasizing and making a big deal about.

It's obvious that many of us make a big deal about it because we actually DO love cinema. and TV. We love getting shows that don't glaringly force a message down our throats. Many of us also are the first to applaud a show for being well made and not in line with all the BS.

It has become apparent that some on this site just can't glance past your posts without attempting to attack you for your opinion. As such, that amazing 'Ignore' feature has become a great tool!

But then when those set pics dropped, and hard right loons had an aneurism that the characters weren't actual dwarves, Disney then course-corrected again, ultimately resulting in the CGI monstrosities revealed in the trailer.

All that said, other than A) being caught in a no-win situation, in the middle of the dumbest culture war ever, B) Rachel Zegler's ill-advised words, outsides of Disney's control, and C) this movie simply looking bad, aesthetically... what terrible, unforgivable "woke" sins has Disney or the movie itself committed here?

Dinklage being deemed the King of the Dwarves is so damn funny to me. I'm not sure why.

It's all just made up bs faux outrage. Everyone hates each other now, so people have to manufacture ways to be upset at the other side. To be fair, this isn't just a conservative thing. Getting all pissy because a make believe princess in a make believe story is half Colombian and not 100% white because the story originated 200 years ago in a white country is about as dumb as getting pissed at white kids for dressing up as Native Americans for Halloween or a white guy opening up a Mexican restaurant. Nobody cared when Diana Ross and Michael Jackson made The Wiz. Nobody cared when Brandy and Whitney Houston made Cinderella, but when the George Floyd crap happened and the statues started coming down, it was game on. If Eddie Murphy made The Nutty Professor today, people would be screaming about wokeness.

I am the one who originally started this thread, and just to be clear, I've never complained about them casting a person of color. I really don't care. I had no issue with the casting of Halle Bailey as Ariel (or really any casting where they switch race or gender, unless they are trying to make an extremely accurate historical movie). I don't think Rachel Zegler is a good choice for Snow White, mostly because nearly ever comment she has makes it sound like she hates the source material. She doesn't seem to really be promoting the movie. It seems more like she's bashing her own movie.

I also think their response with the Dwarfs is hilariously bad. They completely missed the point. I am of the view that the Dwarfs, as portrayed in the original, are problematic. Essentially, the Dwarfs come across as fantasy creations, like elves or something, and I can see why that could be insulting. Disney could have made an attempt to give the Dwarfs a character arc, or make them real rather than just fantastical beings... Instead, they made it seem even more like Dwarfs aren't real people by completely removing the live actors.

My point about them just cancelling the movie is that every time Disney tries to do something with this movie, in response to fans complaints, they somehow make it even worse. I half expect them to come out with a new preview, and we find that they've replaced the CGI dwarfs with hand animated versions.

Her dad is of polish decent and her mom of Columbian descent.
