Went and saw this last night with the wife. It was a good comedy/drama/romance movie. I thought that Scarlett Johansson and Woody Harrelson did a great job in their roles. Lots of good little one lines and just seemed very comfortable with their characters.

I think Channing Tatum did ok but he seemed missed casted. His character was the Sr Flight Director that had been there since Apollo 1 and was a pilot in the Korean war. It felt like it needed to be an older actor. Maybe that is just me thinking about people in similar roles from the Apollo 13 and Hidden Figures movies.

Either way it was an enjoyable movie that men and women can see together and not feel like one of them was dragged to it.

Here's a mind blower.

Channing Tatum is the same age Ed Harris was in Apollo 13.

Gene Kranz who Ed played was 36 for Apollo 11.

Apollo 1 was 1967. Channing in the timeline of this move would've been 42.

I think modern actors just don't age like older ones did.

Yeah I get that and I kept trying to convince myself of it. But Tatum looks like he is 28 in this movie and it doesn't help that his right hand man is 66 year old Ray Romano.

Again just a minor thing for me for an overall good date night movie.

So he looks young not that he is young.

We saw this movie in the theater, and both of us gave it about a 6/10 rating.

Not terrible, but it would've been much better to wait and watch it on Netflix or wherever it eventually ends up.

Interesting concept but not that great execution.

How much of the story is romance? My 15 year old son thought it looked funny, but then he found out it's a rom-com and all of a sudden had no interest. I think he'd like it, unless it's super sappy.

The "rom" was quite limited.

Does this help or hurt people who believe in the moon landings?

Wife liked it a lot more than I did, but I enjoyed it enough for a thumbs up. ScarJo was great and Romano is a national treasure.

It's farcical enough to not really "help or hurt" whatever opinion you have on the validity of the moon landing. Just an interesting take on it

This movie was enjoyable but could have been a lot better. ScarJo was great (and her husband's cameo had me laughing), but Tatum was pretty bland. Some of it was what the role demanded, with him being haunted by past mistakes, but I think it would have been better had he been having a little more fun considering the throwback 60s comedy vibe they were going for.

I also don't know if ScarJo's backstory needed to be so complicated. It just added a lot to resolve that made the movie run long.

Again, Channing is 44. If he was 25 and a pilot in Korea in 1950, he would be 44 in 1969.

I wish they would have given Tatum a little more humor.

And I'm not sure the 44 year old who looks 30 years old with his face and body was the most obvious choice to play a repressed engineer who's consumed by regret. But I did like him in the movie.

Agree. Light hearted comedy. no gore or big drama.

I watched this On Demand last night.

I wasn't expecting much, but it delivered less than I wanted.

I enjoyed the first third or so in which ScarJo got to be bouncy and breezy.

When Woody entered the picture, it got darker and uneven in tone. There were too many twists to Woody's demand that they broadcast the fake moonwalk rather than the real one (that makes no sense at all). It was too long by 30 minutes.

It was not terrible, but I'm glad I didn't waste time in seeing it in a theater.
