How do you manage to paint yourself as a victim in every ****ing thread? Dude said one sentence in response to a tweet from a completely separate person and you took it personally.

Holy ****, where's the tylenol.

How is that I only ever see you pop up here to repeat basically this same sentiment every single time.

Its just not right that its more entertaining hitting refresh on this thread than it would be sitting in a theater right now. Popcorn at home is cheaper too!

TC has this unique ability to turn a simple difference in opinion or interpretation into a Zoolander vs Hansel walk-off.

I generally avoid threads about Star Wars properties so we don't cross paths much these days I suppose.

Anytime I argue like this, there's usually more to the story. In this particular instance, Cliff is someone who at times goes out of his way to play contrarian to whatever I post, he likes to snip at me, take shots here and there, etc. He'll deny it, of course, or say I'm imagining things/being overly dramatic, but there's definitely a pattern there. So, in return, my goal is to simply badger someone like him back. Is it childish? No doubt. And sometimes it's innocuous stuff like this, but when it's the umpteenth time of me posting something, followed by him or someone like him immediately disagreeing, it just gets old, and that's how I push back. Was this particular instance personal on his part? Almost assuredly not. But it's still part of a trend here where, no matter what I post, no matter how harmless, there's a handful of people who HAVE to target it and disagree with it. Sure, part of that's just message board culture, but man is it prevalent here, and there's absolutely an aspect to it that's unique to me, despite how many times people give me crap for reacting the way I do.

TC, if you'll go back, you'll notice that I disagreed with that guy's assertion in the tweet. That's all. Didn't mention you at all. Over the years I've agreed with you plenty, starred your posts plenty, but I've also countered you a few times. That's all there is to it.

We highly hope they are able to keep the business running because I'm pretty damn sure their ticket price would hike

Just not enough good product. We still love going to the movies and have actively been searching over the weekends to see something -- even under the radar.

Just not much there. And I really don't care what the prices look like -- if anything, the concessions are crazy. But it doesn't stop me.

My family is in this camp, too. I'm a Cinemark premium member and honestly look for reasons to go to the movies, but so few these days motivate me to go, even if it's free.

To try and get this thread back on topic, I'll repeat what I've said recently in similar threads, which is that 2025 will be a return to form. In terms of volume for sure (the number of movies released), but also, hopefully, in terms of a particular level of quality as well. Next year is an absolutely bonkers year of what look to be exciting, quality blockbusters, the entire year round, never mind everything else that's coming out in between them. And the same already goes for 2026 as well, which might even surpass '25.

Yes, we're absolutely in a volume/quality rut right now, due partly to lasting effects from Covid, mostly do to last year's strikes, but also due to streaming, the economy, inflation, and yes, even overly "woke" content. But it truly does feel we're finally, slowly but surely, moving past most of that, with an incredibly bright future ahead.

So I wouldn't hit the panic button just yet.

If two years from now, we're somehow all still feeling this way? Then I'll start to worry.

I appreciate the tweet, in hopes that Hollywood does actually lower prices (although, I highly doubt that). Ticket prices aren't the only thing keeping people from theaters, but I do think it's the biggest. Back when I could see a matinee for less than $5, I went and saw a lot of crap. A lot of movies, I had no interest in, but I was bored and it was a pretty cheap way to kill a couple of hours.

The Cinemark closest to my house has tickets tomorrow during the day for $5.25. I just checked. Furiosa.

I think there are some people that have decided movie tickets are too expensive, but haven't actually looked at ticket prices that closely.

You're lucky they haven't gotten to your prices yet. $11 for the 10 AM show at the Cinemark by me. $15 for an evening show. Cinemark is the cheapest theater. All the other theaters charge by seat location. They can go up to over $20 a ticket for a weekend show.

You can't really separate price and quality. If the quality was better, people would be willing to spend more per ticket. I'd have no problem forking over $20 to see Endgame for the first time again.

At the same time, if prices were cheaper people would put up with less quality. I watch plenty of crappy Netflix movies, and don't really complain because it's so cheap (at $15 a month, if I watch 5 movies, it's $3 a movie. Even cheaper per movie if my whole family watches).

Or.....and I'm just throwing this out as a possibility....we don't all live where you live. And can't all go during the day.

The AMC closest to me offers 20 or 25% OFF for some midday showings, but that's the cheapest I've seen. Still hitting around $20 for nighttime shows, plus or minus depending on the projection options.

There are more options in other burbs, and the prices may be more competitive, but I'd have to really want to see a movie to spend that much time in traffic.

**and this gets to something that I believe is an underrated factor in movie theater attendance: the declining number of locations, creating longer drives to the cineplex.

I didn't know that about 2025 and look forward to a return. I miss the cinema leaving me in such a state that we'd all go get a bite to eat or dessert somewhere and just talk about the flick. Highs, low, surprises, whatever.

And this coming from a dude that drags his kids way across town to the only drive-in theater left (very janky place) just so I can put those memories in their heads. Frankly, those have been more memorable just for the experience.

I have no idea what movies cost nowadays. I go to movies when I'm interested in it and pay whatever the price is. It just turns out, it is rare that a movie is worthy of my time.

Streaming has pretty much killed the movie theater for me. Yes the experience at home isn't what it is in theater, but I'm watching stuff at no extra cost (beyond what I'm already paying for the service anyway) within a few months of it hitting theaters.

Also I don't have to spend $60 on a bucket of popcorn, cokes, and candy for the family if I'm at home.

I may never go to a movie theater again. Not joking.
