+1 Tombstone

Wyatt Earp is an epic wannabe that just quite didn't make it especially in shadow of Tombstone.

Kilmer had 2 incredible sidekick movies. Tombstone and Top Gun. Legendary.
Don't forget Heat. He was pretty much DeNiro's sidekick.

That is one movie I've never seen. I"m sure I'll be lambasted for that.

It is an epic. Tombstone is certainly a good movie, but is little more than a simple action movie. Wyatt Earp is an in depth look at Wyatt Earp the man. Wyatt Earp has plenty of action but, akin to a movie like Patton, is not focused on the action.

This thread spurred me to a rewatch of both of these movies. Tombstone yesterday, currently watching Wyatt Earp. First time I have watched these in such close proximity. I stand by my assertion that Wyatt Earp is the better movie.

Take out a lot of the love story stuff and Tombstone is damn near a 10/10 movie.

I don't generally care for westerns but Tombstone and Unforgiven my two favorites.

Regarding Tombstone, Kurt Russell did most of the directing for the film too. Really cool story if anyone has time to look into it. He and Kilmer are great.
Kilmer is a legend, great actor.

To poster that has seen Heat, watch it ASAP. Pacino's character is on coke the whole time, once you know that it makes the movie that much better and it already in the upper echelon in my book.

I'll agree that Tombstone has the better cast in terms of known names for comparable parts.
