The Utah high school where "Footloose" was filmed is being moved after this year, so the students initiated a campaign to get Kevin Bacon to return for their senior prom.

They filmed videos recreating scenes from the movie and did a flash mob dance to the title song, along with partnering with Bacon's foundation to raise funds.

This morning, the actor agreed to come back during a live segment from the school on the "Today" show.

Great story. No word yet on Kenny Loggins' participation.

That is really awesome!! Didn't he used to not like to be associated with that movie or at least would get annoyed when people would bring it up?

Could be mid-remembering but coulda swore folks were making comments about about how neat it was that Jimmy Fallon got him to do this because he'd try to shy away from Footloose historically….

Jack stalked him on the second-best episode of Will & Grace ever, leading to Bacon not only joking about 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, but also revealing he had "Footloose" cued up on the clapper at his apartment at all times.

But if it's TLDR to sum up he wanted to distance himself because he thought the film would cost him to appear as a serious actor…..

Which when you combine that with his breakdown of being in Tremors a few years later in retrospect it kinda makes it funny looking back because he is this big successful actor that everyone likes….who at one point thought his career was coming to an end yelling in public, "I'm doing a f***ing movie with underground worms!!!"
