Finally got around to watching this over the weekend. Milly Bobby Brown plays a good female action star. I know there were a lot of predictable moments in the movie but she still did good in her role. Also, I was trying to figure out who the Queen was and it turns out it was Jenny from Gump! I also didn't realize she was the Bride from The Princess Bride! Who's seen it? what are your thoughts?

I thought it was a pretty fun watch. They went "over the top a bit" when the action got going but otherwise it was worth the watch.

Family Friendly for older elementary kids? The reviews make it seem a bit gory, but no bad language.

Some people get burned alive but I don't recall any bad language or anything sexual at all. It was mainly a dragon doing dragon things!

  • Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Damsel is a fantasy adventure film that stars Millie Bobby Brown as a woman who must fight a dragon to save her life, leading to lots of graphic violence. This woman vs. beast battle makes it clear that Brown's character, Elodie, is a fierce, clever warrior who survives all manner of physical and emotional trauma. She's married off by her father to a man she's just met, only to then be dropped as a sacrifice into a deep network of caves ruled by a vengeful dragon. She runs for her life, suffering falls, cuts, and burns. She experiences deep fear as the dragon chases and taunts her and threatens and kills loved ones in front of her. She sees ghosts, skeletons, and the remains of dead people; other characters and animals are also injured or killed in violent ways (burned alive, stabbed, crushed, etc.). A married couple kisses, and language includes the word "damn." Elodie demonstrates perseverance and courage as the "damsel in distress" who can rely only on herself to be saved. The director did 28 Weeks later. The trailer made it look like a fun watch.

I absolutely LOVE Stranger Things. Probably one of my favorite shows ever. But I never thought MBB was a very good actress. Is she getting better at that? I haven't watched her in anything except ST.

I think she did a very admirable job in Enola Holmes. Henry Cavill as well.

I enjoyed Damsel. One of Netflix's better offerings. Unique story with a few twists.

For the family friendly question:

There is a bit of "torture porn" with her getting cut, stabbed, burned, etc. Dragon kills a few people somewhat graphically. But no nudity, gore, major profanity.

more tame than your average Marvel movie.

Thankfully different people have different tastes and are allowed to think for themselves.

I enjoyed it. It's not going to win awards, but it was entertaining.

I only watched Season 1, but I thought Brown was the only good actor in stranger things. Plus, she was phenomenal in both Enola Holmes movies.

I thought Damsel was a fun movie. Brown was great and it was cool to see "the princess bride" playing the evil queen.
