I'm about to be 66
Played in the 70's and a career got in the way.
Retired 5yrs ago and I've held an axe every day .
There are many many songs I can't remember, but your musical vocabulary expands the more time you spend with the instrument.
Hang in there. There's no greater bartender than a guitar.
I have 69 Kustom I've had since 8th grade and two Mesa Boogies.
My neighbors must hate me.
well I must not have the intelligence to figure that out.maroon barchetta said:pressitup said:

The tuning on this one makes me think I'm going to need to substitute some different string gauges on a few stings, no?

Man I would love to have a nice basement.

I have played since the 90s. For the last 2 years, my guitars have been in their cases as our basement has been under construction for a good part of that (phasing a basement finish). During that time I had 1 guitar out, and I have it tuned to open C, so I haven't really played in standard in a while.
With basement fully finished, I finally got all my gear out and made myself a little play area. I threw on some vinyl from my Metallica deluxe box sets which I hadn't properly gone through, and was (not?) surprised that I pretty much remember every riff from every song, even having to go back to standard tuning. Can't necessarily play the fast ones real clean (battery, blackened, etc), but I still knew them. Hadn't played some of these riffs in decades.
I feel like once I learn a song on guitar, it's something I never really forget. And clearly, even playing in a different tuning for a few years, going back to standard was like I never left it.
Drumming is similar.. I can hear a song for the first time in 10+ years, and I will remember a random little drum fill.. even in genres I don't even normally listen to.
yep me too. I got it back when it was in production, about the same time I got my 62 strat which is in that pic on the right.Equinox said:62strat said:
