I'm not that big of a fan of Nolan.
So for me yes. He passed Nolan easily.

Honestly same for me. Nolan is bipolar for me. I either love his stuff or really don't. Example. Interstellar and Inception? Fantastic movies. Tenet and Dunkirk? Huge misses for me. Especially Dunkirk. Was actually rather disappointed for that one.LB12Diamond said:

While we’re on the Dennis Villeneuve appreciation train, I saw this post the other day https://t.co/ICAN2EWLPY pic.twitter.com/S4DpRsgWRA

God, I hope it does not get the "World War Z" treatment.

INTENSIFIES...Quote:
I'm working with a writer on a TV project, who became friends with Villeneuve through the writer's Canadian wife (she's a lawyer who ran in the same circles as Villeneuve back when she lived in Canada). And spring 2022, the writer sent Villeneuve a draft of our pilot, on somewhat of a whim, after Villeneuve asked him what he was working on the last time they were together at some party. The writer didn't send as an inquiry for Villeneuve to direct or anything like that, just more as an "I'd love to hear your thoughts if you ever get the chance" kind of thing. Well, within, like, three days, while he was doing preproduction on Dune: Part Two, Villeneuve read the pilot and sent the writer a really encouraging email, which he then shared with me and the other producers. I can't tell you how rare that is, and ever since then I've not only loved Villeneuve as a director, but as a person too. He really does seem like such a good person.
(In addition to having helped shaped the story of that pilot, I did the cover art for it as well, so just knowing Villeneuve saw even that was pretty cool too, if I do say so myself.)

Not really impressed with Nolan's last few films. Dunkirk, Oppenheimer and the backwards movie were all 'meh' to me.
Christopher Nolan earned around $72 million for ‘OPPENHEIMER’.

He agreed a deal with Universal to earn a 15% cut of Oppenheimer's "first-dollar gross," which means he earns a portion of the film's revenue from the outset, even before the studio recovers its costs.

I may be opening a can of worms of semantics here, but do you not consider Sicario a western?
Same. It got me initially, but I re watched last year with my 11 year old girl (roughly Murphs age with the same attitude). Good lord, I can't remember anything pulling tears like that.El Gallo Blanco said:
Watched Interstellar for the first time in 4-5 years last night. Have had a 3 year old daughter since then who is now the center of my universe. My goodness the scene of him leaving the farm with Murph running out after it's too late sent me into an uncontrollable sobbing fit. A few others hit me hard as well.
Crazy how much less those scenes resonated with me before I could relate on such a level.
Amazing movie all around, CN's best imo.
You are not the only one. Meh - that's where I would put it and my wife fell asleep during the movie. He's got amazing movies that make you think and I love. This is not one of them.Proposition Joe said:
I think I'm the only person that loves Christopher Nolan but thought Oppenheimer was "meh". Also felt Insomnia was rather average, but I think that's more because I feel like post-90's, Pacino has become a caricature on screen.

Bladerunner 2049 is one of my favorite movies of all time. I've also seen Sicario 4 or 5 times now and it never gets old. For me he has passed Nolan, but that's just my personal taste in movies. Both are great.
Joseph Kosinski is another name for me... Tron Legacy, Oblivion, TG Maverick (the later two being extremely high on my all times list).
