My teenage son and I met him at Dallas comic con and talked to him about the Rocky movies and I told him I'd shown them all to my kids and they were devastated when Apollo died just like we all were back then and then I mentioned Predator and lastly told him well and my son here now is just old enough I just showed him Happy Gilmore the other day and he held up his arm and said in the SAME voice as the movie "Heh heh yeah I got my hand back." and we all died laughing. RIP a really nice guy that gave us great entertainment.

"Ain't gonna be no rematch".

A guilty pleasure from the 80s

I introduced one of my daughters to the 1987 version of Predator recently. It's really amazing he chose the role, because other than the Predator and the drug gang, Dylan is the antagonist of the movie - taking them in there under false pretenses, not revealing basically anything until after the fact, and nearly coming to blows with Bill Duke's character a couple of times. PLaying the outsider in what's basically a Magnificent 7 movie takes some real acting chops, after being such a sympathetic/cool/hero figure in Rocky III and IV and Action Jackson.

Those gifs sum it up, his resume includes Rocky, Predator, Happy Gilmore, Arrested Development, and The Mandalorian. He just kept showing up in something awesome for my whole life.

RIP. This one really bums me out.

A sad day, Weathers was a great actor.

Have to add in his guest role on Psych (the best show in TV history) in Season 5. Although it's not in this cip, ther was a great scene where Gus (Dule HIll) tells him "Ring the Bell, Ding Ding" and Carl Weathers does a grea dead pan finger point in his face.

RIP Carl Weathers. Before he portrayed Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies, Weathers played linebacker for the Oakland Raiders during the 1970 and 1971 seasons. He saw action on special teams during a 20-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins on October 3, 1970 at the Orange Bowl. Prior to his NFL career, Weathers attended San Diego State, where he played for then head coach Don Coryell.

But Weathers has another interesting Orange Bowl connection. He also played for the British Columbia Lions of the CFL from 1971 to 1973. One of his teammates was running back Johnny Musso, a former All American from the University of Alabama. Musso had played his final college game during a loss to Nebraska in the 1972 Orange Bowl. Musso's nickname was the "Italian Stallion". Three years later, Weathers got the part as Apollo Creed in the 1976 film Rocky. Sylvester Stallone's character Rocky Balboa was also known as "The Italian Stallion". Coincidence? Carl Weathers was 76.

Always liked him. The Master of Disaster. RIP
