During the 3 years I worked from home I had local Dallas radio on ... sports talk and classic rock.

After a few weeks of listening it got real old hearing the same 5 tunes by AC/DC, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, ZZ Top, Steve Miller, Tom Petty..

Started to steam radio stations from all over the country... could not get away from these band's same tunes over and over. Never hearing deep cuts.

Then Sirus/XM had a free 3 mo. promo... even that after 3-4 weeks got old... maybe expanded to 7 or 8 tunes by these same bands.

Speaking of Bon Jovi... one canNOT escape from this dude... he's on 80s on 8, Hair Nation, every terrestrial/streamed classic rock station. I know he made a deal w/ the devil... that's the only rational explanation.

Anyway, my go-to station to stream is WMMR out of Philadelphia. I hear stuff on this station that is never played in Dallas... or is played in Philadelphia months before it airs in Dallas. Night time DJ Jackie Bam Bam is a great listen.

I miss 80s Dallas' KZEW, Q102... and zRock.

I stream KLOS out of Los Angeles a bit.

The morning show is practically zero music so I don't listen often. The rest of the day is pretty good. And when people request oddball deep cuts, they will play them.

What I really miss is KACC. The Gulf Coast Rocker from Alvin Community College. They were great but are no more, or at least were no more the last time I checked.

I grew up outside of San Antonio and 99.5 KISS was the Home of Rock N Roll. They'd do Sunday SixPacks and late nightly full albums.

Gone are those days.

Now we get 99.5 in College station playing REM as classic Rock... sigh... and you'll hear Bostons 3 most popular songs play at least 4 times a day.

I'll check out that station for sure. Thanks.

Here's an example... I have not heard this Petty tune on Dallas radio in years.

Then it came on WMMR ... I was stunned hearing it and commented to myself "why the hell do tunes like this never get air time in Dallas?!"

Saw some WMMR mentions, thought you guys might like this read from an industry website.

Also i realize in my long ass post on page 1 I said "WMMS in Philly" and clearly I was confused. WMMS was in Cleveland and also a rock radio icon. I used to study what those stations were playing because they and a handful of others were really the guide posts for rock radio back in the day.

Well, unfortunately, the late Jim Ladd hasn't been on the air since maybe 2008.
But damn Ninety-Five-Five KLOS used to be great.

Sunday Afternoons BBQing in my backyard listening to Uncle Joe and I think he'd do an Album Side even in the mid-2000s.

KEOS in Bryan has some good moments. You just have to check the schedule.

They used to have a late Friday night show called Iron Horse Cafe. Don't know if they still do.

I would park in the parking lot at the high school waiting to pick up my band kid from an away game trip and crank that up. One night the DJ opened the show with The Hellion/Electric Eye, then Take Hold Of The Flame, and then some Maiden, I think it was Run To The Hills. It was a solid start to the show and just kept going from there.

Found out from the Aggieland board that Roger WWW Garrett retired or got retired and started an internet rock station.

rokjok.fm

He is active on the chat many times, especially in the mornings, and will play lots of stuff.

If you guys enjoy Beato I'm guessing you'd also enjoy his (jokingly) nemesis, Pat Finnerty. He makes "What Makes This Song Stink" videos on YouTube, and they are excellent. Here's his video about Train:

He's both funny and a great musician himself - strongly suggest it.

Just posting to say Rick Beato is a national treasure. Went down his youtube rabbit hole last night....such great stuff. Particularly enjoyed his interview with Christopher Cross.

Are they still rock or are they still throwing in Cindi Lauper and Culture Club and that crap now and then?

It's pretty much a mix of everything. 7-9 on Tuesday nights is a Beatles block, though.
