Caught an advanced screening yesterday and it was good stuff.

Riveting, I know.

Glad they finally got it done.

I watched the screener last night and enjoyed it. Main actor was a little boring but overall a fun movie.

Had not heard if this movie till now. Trailer seems like it's perfect for a Christmas family movie.

While not for everyone, the book is excellent. Excited about this film.

Honestly, I think this is a book for everyone. Like, what group of people is this book not for? The illiterate?

I loved it but it is not a quick read. I could be wrong but I believe many would quickly get bored with a 400 page book about what is today is a niche sport.

I said niche not unknown to all expect those who actually play it and those of us that regularly do crossword puzzles.

I dunno, man. It's one of a very small list of books I've started and finished in less than 24 hours. The Boys in the Boat, The Firm, and Holes.

I consider it the best narrative sports history book ever written and second best sports history behind only Lords of the Realm.

I with with you on just how great of a book The Boys in the Boat is. And based on your excellent taste, I'll have to check out Lords of the Realm.

I'd have to think about my list of best sports history books other than The Boys in the Boat, but Seabiscuit and The Boys of Summer immediately come to mind. If mountain climbing is a sport, Into Thin Air would be on my list. If historical novels count The Celebrant and Shoeless Joe for sure would be on there.

Lords is a very heavy read. Literally plods through 100+ years of baseball history to explain how the MLBPA became the most powerful union in America. If you want to fully understand how a 4th outfielder makes more than an NFL QB, this is your book.

The guy who wrote Lords of the Realm also wrote a gripping (seriously) history of the RJR Nabisco leveraged buyout in the 1980s.

Subject matter seems dull.

Once had a teacher pronounce Jai Alai as Jay Alay….I didn't have the heart to correct him.

To be fair, the elite QBs of the NFL will make more money a season than anyone in baseball not not name Shohei Ohtani.

True, but the rank and file NFL player makes pennies compared the back-end bullpen guy.

I know it's hard to answer, but do you think a 14 year old girl and an 8 year old boy would go for it?

There was a Jai Alai fronton thirty minutes from campus when I was there. Was fun to go down and bet a few dollars on the games.
Read the other day that it closed in October, so pour one out for Ocala Jai Alai. Think there are only two left in the state now.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, and I'm going to wear this when I do:

My great uncle attended the 1936 Olympics and got this pin while he was there. It was passed down to me from my grandmother.

Well. Hummm.

Great story, told in a pretty workmanlike way. Nothing special at all and too long.

The 8-year-old got excited during each of the three exactly-the-same races, so that was good.

He and I have a bunch of toy WWII soldiers and tanks that allow us to do battle (he always wants to be the Germans because they have the cooler tanks), and going to this movie allowed me to do a quick history lesson, which he enjoyed and I appreciated him listening to.

I don't go to the movie theater very often. I didn't realize Amazon bought MGM. Hilariously, Amazon felt it needed to translate "Ars Gratia Artis" before showing the Lion. That's what we've come to, I guess.
