New season started this week. For the 11 of us still watching this show.

Is this the year they find the treasure? Could it be?

I'm pretty sure this show is the spinoff from Geraldo's Al Capone vault show.

"Maybe this is the year?"

Said every year since 1799.

They haven't realized yet that the only treasure is the memories they're making together.

The real treasure is that the Lagina brothers were able to create a show running for a decade now plus some spin-offs…..wonder how much $ they've made?

My daughter makes fun of me that I'm still watching this show but I don't care…

Ok old. I read the Readers Digest article when it came out. Would occasionally see a reference to Oak Island.

I watch it in super fast forward now. Fast forward through intro, commercials and repeat of old info and the show only takes about 16-17 minutes to watch.

Things happened there but any treasure was long ago taken.

The only things of value to come out of oak island are the tv contracts and all the wood from the trees they cut down destroying the island in the name of a rumor. I actually love the romantic tales of pirates and buried treasure. But read the actual history here and the original claims largely aren't even real or can't be proven, and most of those that haven't been disproven aren't even plausible.
It's become just people making money off of dreamers. Which is perfectly fine if people have a realistic expectation on what they are watching. Kinda like watching a Bigfoot or UFO documentary. The owners probably don't spend too much more than the tv revenue now, so it's a rich guy's mostly free roll for fun and free pub more than a real search.

I stopped watching many seasons ago. I figured they'd have the whole island dug up by now?

I really enjoyed this last episode. Seeing the Laginas finally get down to the top of the tunnel at the bottom of the Garden Shaft and actually seeing the what appear to be original timbers was surreal.

I have my doubts about whether they will find any treasure, but watching the two brothers digging together and finally seeing something they've pursued for a lifetime, since they were young boys dreaming about hidden treasure, was a cool moment.

I'm still watching but find myself making fun about quite a bit of the show. I do hope they actually find something as I've been interested since I first read about it as a kid. Not holding my breath though

People (my wife) still give me a very hard time for watching this show for so long. "They never find anything". They've found all kinds of stuff. Bones from two different people from different continents 180ft in the ground, iron from a 12th century European mine, Roman coins a 1000+ years old, Venetian glass beads, etc. This list goes on and on.

Do I think they're going to pull the Holy Grail or a box full of gold from the ground? Absolutely not.

But if they by some miracle figure out the Who and Why someone spent a tremendous amount of effort on this tiny, insignificant island I'll be more than satisfied.

New season started last night. At this point I just feel too heavily invested to quit watching the show, although sometimes I wonder why I still do.

They found an old nail last night. Rick thinks it might be an important find.

If they do actually ever find something resembling actual treasure, I'm guessing we'll hear about it before the show airs because of the time difference between production and airing. Which means they didn't find anything this season either.

Oh, I know it. Since they recycle so much of the show, I can fast forward through most of it and watch an episode in less than 20 minutes. I'll give them that much time once a week.
