How long do you want to ignore this user?
Watching now. Good cast of over 40 peeps. Alicia Silverstone still got it! Justin Timberlake suspect in wife murder. Benicio is detective. Silverstone is Benicio's wife.

It seemed to be quite disturbing.

Alicia put on 40 lbs. Still has quirky smile. I really like Benicio. About 45 minutes left in the movie for us. Slow butn but decent so far.

Yeah, she got a dump on her. #schwing The music is dark and ominous.

One classic Benicio part and ending landed soft. If you're bored...sure...

Thanks for the review. Rotten tomatoes gave it < 50%. I may give it a try after all.

Enjoyed it for a Tuesday night watch but the ending was fairly predictable. Classic dirty cop movie.

I actually find her more attractive now.

Really enjoyed that. Very good suspense. Felt David Fincher-esque; however, as with most Netflix films, it really suffers from not being able to be seen in theaters. I imagine the emotions would've been quite heightened in that setting.

Also, Del Toro was fantastic.

My wife and I liked it and it's rare that we find a movie that grabs both of our attentions. The ending could have been better though. It's like they got bored with it and wrapped up all the plot lines in a hurry.

My wife and I both hated it. Like laughed throughout at how much we weren't enjoying it, but ultimately stuck it out and wished we had our 2 hours back.

Why did all the sets look and feel like it was set in the 90s even though it was present day?
Why was BDT obsessed with the kitchen and the kitchen?
Why was she stabbed 30+ times and so gruesomely if it was just cops?
What was the deal with the big bite mark breakthrough?
The church with the paint? Why did she and the ex husband both have that paint?

feel like there were others but thats all I can remember right now.

I think they were all supposed to be red herrings or something because as far as I can tell, they didn't have anything to do with it.

And it wasn't the cops, it was her boyfriend that did it.

Yeah, to me that felt like actual police investigations. Some things pan out. Some things don't. Some things you think are important aren't. Just the way it goes.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yea I agree with that. They had to let Benicio do his thing because It had to seem like a real investigation.

There was definitely an interesting layer of realism to this that you don't see in other murder mysteries, like how they were showing rather mundane details of Benecio's personal life continuing during the investigation. Whereas other movies typically show the detectives working around the clock with no regard to their personal lives during these intense investigations. He was just a regular guy caught up in an extraordinary situation.

not sure if a spoiler or not, but…..

i have a question with an answer that is probably painfully obvious, but it's just not clicking with me…what was the significance (if any) of BDT and Alicia's scene at the end with the BDT hand dipping in the liquid?

They added that just so they could peel it off like a reptile shedding its skin so they could call the movie Reptile

I like it. Not gonna win any awards but i thought it was good. I'm a big BDT fan.
Sea Speed
How long do you want to ignore this user?
To be clear, that is somewhat of a joke, but really the only thing that makes any sense. I'm sure the whole movie is supposed to be a metaphor for shedding ones skin and showing what is underneath. Everyone was something different than what they appeared to be except for Alicia and benecio

is it gory or more about the actual investigation?

Not gory. It is about folks pretending to be someone they are not.

I wouldn't say it was good, but it was fine. A bit let down after seeing the cast and a trailer. Kind of just kept tossing in weak twists. A few questions that there may not be actual answers to:

I'm guessing Eli was killed?
Was BDT's partner in on it all? Don't think there was ever a point that really tipped off that he was in on the whole thing.
Not a question, but taking the flash drive to the chief was unbelievably dumb, to the point that I think that was poorly written.

Watched this last night. Basically weak overall, despite the cast.

Sometimes I think Hollywood has forgotten how to make movies.

Watched it last night, too. It was fine. Wouldn't call it a waste of time, but I'll probably forget most of it in a couple of days. BDT has so much screen presence

I was very intrigued by the first hour, and sort of let down by the second half of the movie.

Probably a 6.5/10 overall for me.

This is the main reason I didn't love how it all ended.

This might as well be called "Red Herrings".

How long do you want to ignore this user?
There's a real-life unsolved murder which is way too similar for it to be coincidence.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Lindsay_Buziak

I guess they couldn't say it was based on a true story because most of the second half is probably fictional, but literally every other detail is ripped out of this case.
