Ian Watkins, the former lead singer with Lostprophets who was jailed for 29 years for child sexual abuse, has reportedly been stabbed at HMP Wakefield.

He is said to have been taken to hospital after being stabbed at the prison in West Yorkshire.

A source told the Mirror he had been taken hostage by three other inmates on Saturday morning.

A Prison Service spokesperson said: "Police are investigating an incident which took place on Saturday at HMP Wakefield. We are unable to comment further while the police investigate."

Watkins was jailed for 29 years in December 2013 with a further six years on licence, after admitting a string of sex offences including the attempted rape of a fan's baby.

He actually appealed his sentence in 2014, claiming it was too harsh, but he lost his appeal later that year.

He's eligible for parole in March 2030, so less than seven years from now.

I'm more amazed it took him that long to be stabbed….must've been getting protected to some extent….

Is that what happened to lostprophets? I had no idea. Their album Start Something came out when I was in high school and they were pretty popular. "Wake Up" randomly played on my phone the other day and I started wondering whatever happened to them. That's ****ing terrible.

The other members became a new band called No Devotion afterwards. They said they'll never play any Lostprophets songs again.

There were two fans who let him abuse their babies, since they were obsessed with him, and one of them got fourteen years and the other got seventeen years.

He may legit be the most evil human being on the planet. That is not hyperbole or exaggeration. I'm serious. I cannot believe he's actually eligible for parole at any point.

yup. there are times where the US justice system is too harsh. but, many european countries are way, way too soft. this is one of those cases.

The judge wanted to make him eligible for parole after two-thirds of his sentence (the maximum allowable time before becoming eligible for parole, since it wasn't possible for him to be ineligible for parole), but he messed up when sentencing him, and he's eligible for parole two and a half years earlier than the judge intended.

He's in stable condition now, but he was in critical condition when it happened. He was stabbed in the neck multiple times and beaten.

The men who 'tortured' Ian Watkins did so in a six-hour hostage ordeal amid a row over the paedophile rocker giving other inmates guitar lessons, it has been claimed.

Sources have claimed the group of three responsible - two of which are believed to be 'killers' - were 'recent arrivals' to the Category A prison and had planned the attack, which is thought to be in anger over him giving guitar lessons to other inmates, to take place on a day where there were fewer staff working.

A source at the West Yorkshire prison told the Sun anger over his guitar lessons and visits from his girlfriend could have fuelled the attack.

They told the publication: 'He was known to have hangers-on who asked him about music and being a rock star.

'He even gave some of them guitar lessons which made other inmates in there angry so they wanted revenge.

'He is also high-profile and a lot of the lads in there think they will get a move to another jail if they attack someone well-known.

'They want to be shifted out of, although it does not usually work like that.'
