S3 August 8. Not sure they could ever match Season 1, but Martin and Short are so good together, plus adding Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd

Are they ditching no talent pop stars from the cast?
Definitely Not A Cop

Who are you referring to?

Gomez

I'm looking forward to the next one. The old guys are the real stars, so I can get past Selena Gomez lack of talent.

I feel like the original pitch of the show was, "Lets put Martin Short and Steve Martin in scenes together and let them cook and the rest is just whatever."
As long as the show keeps to that formula, I love it. Both of those guys are so talented and both are still throwing fastballs this late in their careers, it's pretty amazing.

There's a chance I'm misremembering, but did season 2 end on any kind of cliff hanger similar to season 1 with someone being murdered?

S2 ending spoiler:
The last ep had them at the theater for Oliver's show, Charles arguing with/somewhat threatening Paul Rudd's character who then comes out on stage and dies. Mabel: "You've got to be ****ing kidding me."

So yes, rather cliffhanger-y Can't wait for the new episodes, probably our favorite show.

Gotcha thanks, basically what the trailer that was posted showed. For some reason I was thinking something like that happened in their building again.

First two eps of s3 are a lot of fun. Definitely just giving some talented actors room to have fun in spots and it's fantastic to watch.

Yeah, lots of fun performances so far. The Girl Cop stuff kills me every time.

I really like this season. The call back to All That Jazz was very good, and Meryl Streep is killing it. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I think Selena Gomez is doing a fine job too.

I think Selena Gomez is distractingly bad. I don't know if it is her acting or her voice, but she is the weak link.

Just watched E3, I enjoy Steve Martin's character overestimating his fame and esteem as Brazos. There were some funny one liners tonight on the subject.

Gomez has always polarized posters here. She doesn't bother me for whatever reason. I will say if you're still watching in S3, you can't hate her that much.

I'm enjoying S3. And Gomez is fine. She's the only thing that keeps the egos of the other two grounded (the characters not the actors).

Steve Martin knocked it out of the park in episode 4. Martin Short drives my wife crazy, but he doesn't bother me. I still think Selena Gomez is doing a great job.

It's the overly nasally voice. Distracting but not to the point of not watching the show, which we love.

But why does the murderer have to be Charles' GF again??

I find Selena Gomez very sexy. Like a young Linda Ronstadt with big bewbs

Short & Martin were on Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend last week. One of the funniest hours of my life.

I'd definitely pay to go see this musical. Here's hoping it becomes an actual show haha.

I love this show. One thing I interesting about Selena Gomez though, and she's even a singer, when she talks, it's almost like she doesn't open her mouth all the way and her voice sounds a bit restrained. Still, her character is great, I love the way she handles the old guys.

I grew up with the comedy of Martin Short and Steve Martin, I've always loved them, and I think they have adapted very well into their older age.

But I think this show has been fantastic.

I will miss it.

She looked amazing, She really does tone down her looks generally but got gussied up for her date. Nice to see. She also loosened up quite a bit at dinner with a few cocktails.

I enjoyed last nights episode a lot.

Meryl Streep is incredibly talented - we know that - but man does it come through every time she is on.

And last week I was mentally thinking - we need Sazz back and then she was back. Thank god for Jane Lynch. she's awesome. Doing stunts for Scott Bakula. Hysterical.

At this point I never think it is anyone they are actively investigating - so I've eliminated Meryl/Loretta as a big red herring. I mean obviously you don't get someone of her caliber to be a distraction. But what better form of obfuscation. I also eliminated Joy and Jonathan and Kimber as soon as they became suspects.

My money is currently on either Cinda or Tobert or Dickie or someone we have not even seen yet.

I think this is the weakest episode in all 3 seasons. Too slow, not enough exposition or movement forward.

So far it's pretty obvious who was in the dressing room.

or should I say "what" was in the dressing room vs who

I loved this episode.

First of all just all the little backstage stuff was great. What a great environment for this setting. If you've ever spent time backstage of anything it is a weird, creepy world usually and this was all of that. But they also were genuinely investigating which was great and made a lot of discoveries even if it was to eliminate people like Jonathan. But the best part was them fighting not because I want them to but because it was realistic. It has been building to this. They are not on the same page like the other two seasons and it shows. It is all strained with Tobert involved, with Charles so self centered and with Oliver distracted by love. And it boiled over in a big way with no holds barred full on scathing rebuttal of each of them.

Ok so no spoilers really but I'm gonna black some stuff out because nothing in this show is ever just a throwaway everything they show is for a reason even if it relates to something later discarded as a theory or suspect. But there was a lot to unpack here.....and I'm throwing around a lot of suspicions.

The shredder is important they focused on it and Howard seemed to almost realize it was maybe what he heard that night when he found the door locked. So who was in there and what were they shredding? I think it has to be someone who does not have a dressing room (Dickie maybe?) sorry but Dickie has been notably absent which makes me suspicious of him.

The squatter was very illuminating too, obviously in revealing Charles fight that night but also the rat - again nothing is shown for no reason - and there was rat poison I caught a glimpse of in KTs office and Oliver was holding some. The squatter was cooking the rat so he very well may die from eating it (spoiler alert). And he has a motive having gotten fired by Donna.

The fog machine too - could have a been a method of dispersing whatever killed Ben the first time. Maybe rat poison? Or maybe just like peanut dust or oil - some kind of allergy - because the cocktail of drugs included antihistamine for Jonathans allergy to Howard's cat. But maybe Ben was taking that too.

Going back to Tobert and the story about watching the elephant die - starting to get the feeling he saw Ben die and did nothing. I don't think he is the killer but also suspect he might be working for Cinda.

Ok now back to Loretta - Ben said something weird about having bit his tongue but not feeling anything. Sounds like some drugs in effect there. Well remember after Oliver ate Loretta's pork chop he says he doesn't feel anything when the tooth broke off. Weird coincidence or highly suspect I think. And is there something between Loretta and Dickie because he was in that little book a lot too - maybe she is Dickie's mother and Ben's stepmother? she hates him because he got what Dickie never did. Hmmmm.

My current bet is Dickie did it somehow and was shredding something important to Ben. Maybe something he did not want Ben to see about Loretta. Loretta may have baked the cookies and accidentally triggered his reaction the first time. Something about her baking tray. It's obviously the cookies in the dressing room that Ben is arguing with - the words can be taken out of context to apply to a person but he talked about "being all sweet" and stuff like that and how they would ruin him, etc. Just remember back to how he reacted to the cookies in the read through - again everything they show means something.
