The Butler brothers grew up in The Woodlands.

I think Rush is probably the winner even though I'm not a big fan.

My personally picks would be Our Lady Peace and Arcade Fire.

That's a stretch. That would be like calling Pear Jam a Chicago band because Eddie Vedder was born in Chicago.

A lot of singers take notes off live. They can't hit them in concert.

Rik Emmett was nails. Every time.

Somewhere between the greatest American band thread and this thread lies The Band. All but Levon were Canadians, but I always felt like Levon (an Arkansas farm boy) was the heart and soul behind the music. Not sure if that makes them more Canadian or American, but either way they were phenomenal, and one of the greatest bands ever:

Yep, loved that album. My response was in jest, though, as Rush is the obvious answer yet wasn't in the OP list.

I think it's some kind of jab at Junkhead for leaving Soundgarden off the Greatest American Rock Band list OP.

Lots of good bands from Canada, but I don't see how anyone but Rush gets labeled "best". They're basically a Canada's version Zeppelin / Beatles.

While I love the fact that OP list began with BNL, which is near the top in my book, gotta go with Rush.

Man, their whole set at US Fest 83 was pretty amazing. A lot of people say it was the best show of that weekend. They were just so good live.
