I think Zep would get more than anyone because they've been so tight with allowing their music to be used anywhere that there would be a huge market for it now.

They let Jack Black use a song in School of Rock, Immigrant Song IIRC, and their old friend Cameron Crowe was given the rights to several Zep songs for Almost Famous but even he couldn't get them to approve Stairway. Those are the only other ones I can recall.

I've often wondered if that was intentional or a mistake by the director Amy Heckerling. I like to think it was done on purpose to show how much of a mess Rat really was.

I think it was the latter.

Plus, Damone said "when it comes to making out", and Rat thinking he had a shot even on the way to the restaurant would about right. He probably thought he was setting the mood before loading Stacy up with 5lbs of Knackwurst and 30 cokes.
