They recently opened a new Tron ride at Disney World. That's the biggest reason for it.

That was a badass ride, but way too short.

Having ridden it, I can't begin to imagine how it might feature in the movie. There's literally nothing about the ride that can be put in a movie, there's no story to the ride at all.

yeah, but wasn't that revamped AFTER the first movie came out and was popular.

This seems more tail wagging the dog
They added a couple of things, but for the most part, it's still the same as it's always been. Or at least the Disneyland version is.

I also found Jungle Cruise to be pretty entertaining, much better than it had any reason to be.

Iirc the sequel to Tron: Legacy was also rumored to take place in the real world too with Sam Flynn and Quorra from Legacy coming back. I agree that without The Grid, I'm not sure what to think either. I was also hot on the idea of a sequel after Legacy but now years after the fact I'm kind of meh to the whole idea.
