So what you are saying is that CC shouldn't be considered a drummer on the basis of him not playing on an SG album?

Jerry Gaskill of King's X. He sings lead some, including two great songs on the latest album. Not to mention his solo stuff.

We have no idea how good a drummer he was, because for the most part, he's never been seen or heard playing drums outside of his band mates or some friends.

I mean, if Steve Perry, Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, or [insert really good singer here] can sit down and play a drum beat, should they be in the discussion too?

Listing him is fine, you started the thread, but by listing a guy that never actually recorded as a drummer, you're leaving the thread open to a lot of different interpretations.

Fred Leblanc, dude from Cowyboy mouth is pretty badass. Damn good drummer for just a 3-4 piece kit, and entertaining as hell to watch.

Thought of him too, dynamic front man even if he wasn't behind the kit the entire time. I've seen him several times get the bass player or 2nd guitar to keep pounding on the bass drum while he takes a mic out into the crowd etc.

And to top it off, none of those other drummers leant Chuck Yeager a stick of Beemans,

That was the last time he ever performed that song. It's an amazing live performance of it. I think he knew he would never sing it again.

Also listed in the OP.

What about Ringo? I think Karen Carpenter too is a good one for the list.

He wasn't even the best lead singer in his own band, and frequently sucked live.

When was he a drummer?

Early in his career before he moved out front. Same with Chris Cornell and many others. That's why this discussion is a **** show. It really should have been limited to musicians that actually recorded albums and played live as drummers.
