I never would have thought that guy was Japanese, but honestly, now that you say it, it's not the most outlandish miss.

This is true but "Good evening, fraulein" and "Listen, Herr Mac" kind of eliminate any confusion.

As a kid I always thought she said, "Listen, Air Mac." I used Air Mac as an insult.

In original Star Wars, I used to think it was awfully lucky that that droid blew a gasket in his head so that Luke's uncle would pick R2D2. But then I found out that it blew it's own gasket on purpose to let R2D2 go with 3CPO.

I didn't know that. Evidence?
I used to have a Star Wars card game. Each card had a factoid about the (original three) movies written on it. This fact was one that stuck with me, because I thought that was a gaping plot hole prior.

When watching Commando as a 13 year old I totally missed the gay undertones of the bad guy Bennett, I thought he was just some badass Heavy like the villains in Mad Max.

Turns out there are all kinds of film reviews discussing how Bennett was gay and hated Matrix because he tossed him out of the Special Forces group when Bennett professed his love for him.

I guess the mustache and the fact that Bennett dressed like he was headed to a gay bondage club with the leather pants and mesh tank top should have clued me in but at 13 it was over my head.

The first time I saw Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory I didn't realize that he murdered all those kids.

He also played the very gay Mohawk guy in Road Warrior.

This is literally the scene that has prevented me from showing this movie to my boy. But now that others confirmed, I think I'm safe. He's only 10.

And just to add to the list -- in the Great Outdoors, the wives talk about enjoying a spin cycle with the washing machine. Me and my buddies always laughed b/c our parents had laughed at it...but I guarantee I wasn't the only one that was totally clueless to what that meant.
