Watching that trailer just makes me think, I've already seen most of these scenes before. I can't be the only one right?

I thought the trailer looked good. I'm more interested in this project now after watching it. It's been a long time since reading that book, but they are looking at 8 episodes @ 1 hour each. If the first movie was 2.5 hours long, then they are looking at ~5.5 hours of "new" material for the series. It will be interesting to see how that extra space is filled. This project will ultimately stand on its own from the movie, for better or worse.

Not sure why you think that is weird. This is something I've been hoping for for a long time since the movies butchered the books so badly. I think the only people that might have a problem with this are people that love the movies, but have never read the books for whatever reason.

Makes sense. Never read the books.

This is a nearly perfect Snape casting:

There is A LOT missing from the movies. It's kind of funny because The Sorcerer's Stone came out in November 2001 and was immediately followed by The Fellowship of the Ring in December. The contrast between how well they were adapted was incredible. I remember being seeing TSS and thinking the acting was horrible and they just picked whatever scenes were good excuses for bad CG. Then I was absolutely blown away by FOTR.

Casting director needs to be fired into the sun for missing this one. Even past the Black Snape thing. Rickman was the perfect Snape. No question there. But if you HAVE to get another, Driver is a no brainer. Or so I thought.

I agree he'd make a good Snape but I'm pretty sure Rowling insists on all British actors. I know she did for the films and assume she had the same rule for this show.

Why would you think Driver would have even considered taking the role if offered?

A steady paycheck for being on a show that will be watched by millions? Don't know why anyone would take that.

I'm really bothered by Snape's costume. Its way too cool... and no one in the wizarding world has zippers.
Like if you were going to make him black, you actually needed to go over board on the nerd. Like he should be more awkward than Richard Ayoade and he should absolutely wear the most ill fitting hat and his dress should be positively medieval even by wizarding standards.
Not like Blade found platform 9 and 3/4s.

Harry vs. the Boggart should be fun. His greatest fear is a black man coming out of closet?

Harry feared the dementors. Neville feared Snape. Neville would be the one who hates gay black men.
