How long do you want to ignore this user?
My mom recently visited this weekend and brought my old binders of MANY sports cards and superhero cards.

All of the cards are from the late 80's and early 90's and I'm fairly certain some are worth some $$ now (Michael Jordan/Magic Johnson/Nolan Ryan/Wolverine/Spider Man etc). Can anyone point me to a trusted resource or a place near B/CS to get an idea of what some of these items are worth?

TIA

I think these days the common pratice is to send them off to be graded at PSA, https://www.psacard.com/priceguide/ . Condition of the card seems to play a huge factor compared to when I was a kid. Late 80's and early 90's were terrible years for baseball cards, but other sports have high dollar cards (like Jordan RC).

Yup, but graded vs non graded can change the value quite a bit. At least for any card worth selling in the first place.

I've passed University SportsCards on Cain a few times. Don't know anything about them though other than I remember them posting here awhile back.

Googling College Stations Sports Cards brought up a few results as well.

I mean, that obviously isn't for me who has a shoebox full of cards.

I agree, I have a friend who has gotten into it lately, seems like a hobby that has gotten ruined since I was a kid.

I looked into this with some of my older cards. The easiest place to start is eBay. If other sellers are getting a price on eBay, so can you.
You can send off your cards to get graded, but it takes a long time and costs. If you send out all cards that aren't worth much it won't be worth your money, also if you send off a few cards worth medium amounts it won't be worth it since you get discounts when you send in more cards. There is some tradeoff in there that you have to make on your own time and budget on how much you want to invest in grading vs. how much you think the cards are worth.
There are also people that do card buy/selling professionally that will blindly buy bulk ungraded cards, they don't pay much, but you can make some on very little effort. This can be through brick and mortar card shops or through private sellers.
Ultimately, all of that was too much effort for me to figure out, so I just put them back into the shoebox in the closet.

Your collection is from the most overproduced sports card era in history. Our childhood cards are mostly garbage.

Not sure on the super hero cards, as those may be valuable.

Like others have said - do some work to catalogue and anything potentially over $100 may be worth sending to PSA.

It's definitely only for < 1% of cards at this point. The value just isn't there for sports cards, unless you go with some of the newer, fancy football cards like the autographed or patch cards. Even then, it's a very low percentage of cards that are worth getting graded.

Now, Pokemon cards on the other hand...

You can take it to OPC Card Shop in Caldwell. The owner is a good, honest man. He will tell you what they are worth and make suggestions.
