59. Most of the ones I haven't seen are pre-1950's.

What is kinda funny is that 60 movies on this list are from before 1970. 80 films before 1980.Corporal Punishment said:
Real F16 material in the preamble:
"American film has marginalized the diversity of voices that make our nation and its stories strong and these lists reflect that intolerable truth. AFI acknowledges its responsibility in curating these lists that has reinforced this marginality and looks forward to releasing new lists that will embrace our modern day and drive culture forward."
Puke. Can't I just enjoy the list without feeling guilty?
This list was made in 2007, and only covered up to 2005. So yeah, given that it covers a little more than a century, it makes sense that 80% of the selections correspond to about 80% of the years covered.wangus12 said:What is kinda funny is that 60 movies on this list are from before 1970. 80 films before 1980.Corporal Punishment said:

So basically most of these movies were before DEI was ever considered. Before the civil rights movement etc.
Maybe if they focused more on writing great original stories to tell on film instead of focusing on hit diversity quotas, there would be more recent films on this list
The list is from 2007.The Milkman said:
So LOTR in 2001 is the most recent movie on there? As others have said, too much of "its old therefore its great".
Surprised that I've seen 23 though.
