Has anyone advanced past the Jeopardy! anytime test?

I took the online test late last year and didn't think I did very well, but I got an email out of nowhere yesterday asking me to participate in the next level of screening. I signed up for a date today (the earliest available) and just completed the video call orientation/secondary online test. There were around 10 potential contestants on the video call and after they took care of some housekeeping business we adjourned to a 50-question individual test (separaate from the video call) where we typed our answers in like on the "anytime" test then went back to the video call to discuss what happens next (no results or anything were provided)

Apparently from now it could be tomorrow, or this time next year if (and a big IF) I were to get a call for the "final?" audition, has anyone else gone through this "second" step?

I got a little over half of the questions correct (I think) some were pretty tough, I'm not holding out any hope of advancing at all, I'm curious if anyone else has done this second step? I'm trying not to get my hopes up, I'm just wondering if anyone else here has done this and what was your experience? Maybe a ton of people here have done this and I can quit making plans for a badass vacation next year, lol.

I've got nothing for you, but this is interesting and I appreciate you sharing your experience. You've got to keep us updated on what happens next.

Good luck.

A friend of mine did. He mentioned that it was a mock Jeopardy format where you go against other potential contestants to judge how you do playing the actual game.

I'll also mention that I remember reading somewhere (or maybe my friend told me) that you have to pay your way to the taping. I wouldn't 100% trust my memory here, but something to maybe look up.

The "mock game" may be the next step, this was just taking a 50-question quiz where we had to keep our cameras on and type our answers so they could verify we weren't googling the answers (my assumption).

I doubt the next step happens, but we shall see.

There was a poster here several years ago that was actually on the show. He posted about his experience.

About ten years ago (pre-pandemic, obviously), I did well enough on the online test to get invited to the second stage, which consisted of another timed paper test and some mini mock games. A really brief interview type thing, and I got a "thank you very much, we'll call you" on the way out the door.

They didn't call.

About 13 years ago I got a call back after taking the scheduled online test.

They would announce audition locations and schedule online tests over a three night period. You had to tell them when you signed up for the test what audition location you wanted.

I went to the New York audition. It was a 50 question written test, a short interview, then playing mock games with the signaling device. I thought the written test was a lot harder than the online, maybe it was luck of the draw on the questions.

Then they told us they may call in the next 12 months. I never got the call, but I think that even with the limited auditions and scheduled online tests the pool was pretty large.

I don't think so. I spent some time trying to track that thread down yesterday because he really gave great insight into the behind the scenes of the show. But I didn't find it.

It would make sense contestants have to pay their own way. I'm sure they could easily fill out the show with people from southern California alone.

A co-worker years ago went to an open audition for Wheel of Fortune when it came to town. It was actually his wife's idea. They rejected her but accepted him, You can imagine how that when over. I'm reasonably sure he has to pay his own way.

When he got there, they had a large group of contestants together. They actually had a mock game where the show staff got in their faces and were a little rude times. They were trying to see if they would freeze up on camera. He said after that everyone was completely nice. So even getting to town, you might still not actually make it to the show.

He said both Pat and Vanna dropped by the contestant greenroom to say hello, no makeup. He said Vanna still looked nice but Pat was a train wreck.

He won a little cash and a trip (don't remember where). I think they never took the trip because there were a lot of conditions. Only certain dates, only from a certain airport.

Different guy than I was referring to, but very cool. The thread I'm talking about gave a very detailed write-up of what being on the show was like.

You have to have a nice story to two to tell about yourself, if you're not willing to provide one of your holiday time family stories that you have regaled the GB with I'd recommend something like the following:

-Tree Hugger: I work at a college as a janitor even though I feel like I'm smarter than most of the people who go there. Sometimes I see an equation written on the blackboard like half an equation and I just figure it out.
-Jeopardy Staffer: Is this Good Will Hunting?
-Tree Hugger: No.
-Jeopardy Staffer: It sounds a lot like the plot of Good Will Hunting.
-Tree Hugger: Yeah, anyway, my best friend is Ben Affleck.

I think I remember this. He won once or twice and talked about how mentally exhausting it was to play. Was almost relieved to lose.

I never did make it past those old scheduled online tests, and considering my recall speed has slowed over time, I doubt I'll try again.

I mean, I'd at least be smarter than the guy today whose Final Jeopardy wager proved he couldn't do basic math.

Day 1: no answer

(No I won't be doing this every day, I was just checking for feedback)

Yeah. Pretty much the same. My in-person stage was in Tampa.
