That's rich. Brian Earl Spilner is Mexican and not an American. He would know.

I'm actually both, but yeah.

He doesn't pronounce s in the middle of words, which is more of a Puerto Rican thing.

But funny enough he might actually speak better than JLo.

Not to get into a Latino D measuring contest lol, but I'm half Mexican and half Puerto Rican. My Puerto Rican family thinks he sounds super Mexican when speaking Spanish. I tend to agree.

J-Lo's Spanish sucks.

It's actually neither really. He's speaking like someone who is learning the language, but I did say slight Puerto Rican accent. He is pronouncing certain words like Puerto Ricans do, that's a fact.

Not seeing this as something worth arguing about. Still speaks far better Spanish than anyone would've reasonably expected from Ben Affleck.

Not sure why this matters. I'm a naturalized citizen, US passport, Mexican national by birth, never got my Mexican passport because I've never needed it.

Went and saw this last night with my brother. It's a solid movie and we both thoroughly enjoyed it, but I think I had set unrealistic and maybe unfair expectations before going in. Want to watch it a second time around once available on streaming networks. I wasn't "blown away" this time around like I expected to be.

I honestly think watching "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" again the other night might have impacted my viewing experience to some extent. The production quality, authenticity, and nostalgia captured in that movie is pretty much second to none and blows this one out of the water in those regards (imo).

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it...great movie, but I went in expecting to be blown away and to feel like a kid again. I'm weird in that sometimes I like certain movies much more upon 2nd viewing and beyond...maybe that will be the case with this one.
This was my take. I enjoyed the movie, it was fun, well acted, no slow parts. But it was a little overhyped. In the movie Phil Knight was super skeptical about betting the farm on Jordan who wasn't a superstar at the time, then Sonny comes to him about giving Jordan a percentage of sales and Knight agrees right away. It just didn't make sense to me and that part felt a little rushed.

I mean... that's just a character arc. By the time push finally comes to shove, Phil has been changed by what Sonny was able to pull off. Sonny did the impossible, Phil recognizes that, and now trusts him implicitly.

Good movie, fun, enjoyable, went by fast.

I wouldn't put it in any kinda great or "must see" category though.

For kids: lotsa lotsa F bombs and some sexual innuendo during some shouting scenes but no sex or nudity . I was comfortable taking my 13yr old.

Watched it last night. Actually really liked it. Really caught the nostalgia of the 80's for me. Music was perfect.

Everyone want a pair of Air Jordan's when I was in JH. Him getting a portion of every shoe sold was just crazy, in a good way.

Good movie, would definitely recommend it to friends, pumping the breaks on calling it amazing. Things can just be good, doesnt have to be garbage or ground breaking as the only options.

I'm not being "sensitive." I just find it weird when people try and define what others can/can't think about something.

It wasn't a commentary on anyone being wrong for thinking it's amazing, or saying my opinion is the right one.
It's regrettable that aggiephoenix02 agreed with me and it makes me question everything I wrote.

Just giving my own opinion, but I also have started trying to avoid any hype or articles about movies before they come out. I feel like that has become its own business, that studios put more funding into than actually making the movies at times. So other than watching the first trailer, I had no real expectation going in other than appreciating Affleck's work as a director and liking most of the actors in the movie.

We need to normalize "good" again.
We need to bring back good bad movies that are fun.
If I'm elected, I pledge to make this dream a reality.

I recall you informing me once that a particular movie was " objectively" bad despite me laying out the reasons, all subjective, why I enjoyed that movie.

How one *feels* about about something is a different conversation than the quality of something. For instance, I love the movie Armageddon, but recognize that it's a bad movie. Put simply, I try my best on this site not to criticize the feelings people have about something, but I'll argue quality all day long. In my mind, those are two different things.

Just watched it on Prime.

Very good movie. I really liked it.

It was very nostalgic without being corny. Being the same age as Ben he did it perfectly.

I'm so intrigued by their model. We need more movies like this.

The real question is, what language does he gesticulate with his hands?

My problem was your use of the word "objectively". I'll grant that you have a different perspective given that you are in that business, but that in no way negates the subjective viewpoints that others may hold. I am not in the film business, so whether a particular movie is bad for whatever technical reason, that is going to go right over my head.

The only reason I see any movie is to be entertained, and thus, that is my base requirement - was I entertained?

Pretty good. Had to watch with the volume down because of the language and my daughters were in the next room over.
