Denzel Washington is one of the greatest actors of all time. He is also a great person, so he plays heroic characters very well.

But my favorite Denzel role is when he played one of the most hated villains in movie history…

If this was about tv shows, or if they had made a Smallville movie, I would say Lionel Luthor.

He was a villain to Clark and Jonathan and Martha at times, and a villain to Lex even more than that with all of the "lessons" he tried to teach.

I really enjoyed the way he and Lex talked history when they argued about a particular scenario Lex was involved in and made it fit the moment.

He was devious.

Yeah... Talk about a villain that doesn't hold up. His whole deal is that he brings home trophy after trophy in freaking peewee hockey. He tells a successful trial lawyer that he's nothing because he missed a goal when he was like twelve. Meanwhile this dude is still coaching kids and his opposition is forced to take the position as community service.

At the end of the movie he gets the whole "i can't believe I thought you were cool" routine from Bombay. Meanwhile this guy probably has trouble keeping squirrels from stealing his mail.
