Pretty sure Laverne went tits up already so that reunion was already hanging by a thread.

Lenny ended up with the best career out of all of them (Spinal Tap)…

The actors who played Lenny and Squiggy were in an improv/comedy group with Harry Shearer. With the success of Laverne & Shirley, Lenny & Squggy became popular enough in culture that they released an album called Lenny and the Squigtones. Playing guitar on that album was Christopher Guest.

Of course, Lenny (McKean), Shearer and Guest would write and star in a certain music documentary I can't remember, but you can still find Smell the Glove when rocking out at Stonehenge.

I remember one of their drummers exploding on stage. Sure beats out Tommy Lee and the revolving drum cage in theatrics!

I remember in my very young days thinking Shirley was so good looking and there was no appeal with Laverne.

From those Happy Days (& Spinoffs)

Most of the main Happy Days cast is still around (Tom Bosley and Erin Moran have died)
Most of L&S cast have died (Michael McKean still alive)
Most of Mork & Mindy cast have died (Pam Dawber still alive)
Other Happy Days spinoffs, Joannie Loves Chachi, Blansky's Beauties, and Out of the Blue have been removed from most people's memories, except to debate if Out of the Blue really was a spinoff.

I learned this last week....

So in Laverne and Shirley, the theme song starts with, "Schlemiel, schlimazel. Hasenpepper incorporated.

A Schlemiel is someone who spills soup and schlimazel is someone who gets soup spilled on them.

Both are Yiddish words.

Hasenpepper is rabbit stew. It's also not kosher.

Describes Laverne and Shirley perfectly.

as a pre-teen Shirley rustled my jimmies a bit. I always liked the girl next door type. Laverne seemed trashy and low rent to me.

I haven't paid much attention to that show since I was a kid but I remember thinking Shirley was cute and that Laverne was a dog. Looking at the pictures now I actually think Laverne was a lot more attractive than I remember. That Bronx accent, though. Nails on a chalkboard.

Good discussion on your disappearance in the below podcast. Henry Winkler's opinion is that the creators replaced Ritchie's actual brother with the Fonze being his surrogate brother. The Fonzie character blew up so they had to work him into the show more.
