Watched some doc on megayachts, it was on tubi.
Interesting look into the world of megayachts. It highlighted one architect who says it's typically 3-5 years from the first time he meets a new client to delivery of a yacht. He starts with 2-d exterior sketches by hand and pen.
Also followed another dude around for a little adventure he took 8 of his friends on. They boated out to greenland on his 400lf yacht, then helicoptered over to a glacier to go skiing. Then back on the yacht for drinks and dinner. 30 crew members on this guys boat. Another billionaire profiled said his captain stays on his boat in miami, and he pays him 15k pounds a month (roughly $250k/yr)
It talked about how Monaco is the center of the yacht world. Over 300 companies in that area related to that industry. Some interior designer lady was at a trade show, and met up with one of her recurring (middle eastern) clients. She had her new furniture/furnishing line set up on a yacht. He came in and pointed out what he wanted.. $250k worth of stuff. She said he meets her once a year and buys like this.
Also highlights how most yachts are owned by arab/middle eastern money.
Pretty interesting.
