Shes one of the best out there doing it.
How can you tell in this day and age w/ pitch correction and autotune? Even live performances are pitch corrected now days.
Who cares?

This is the best version of it, IMO. Clearly she comes from country roots and does it so well, though that's not her style.

She has a great voice. I think her early pop sound (lots of effects and auto tune) is what turns people off. Her more recent stuff and the rock covers are a better showcase of her talent. Very Stevie Nicks like.

I think a lot of people use "singer" and "performer" as synonyms when they are not and that's what leads to a lot of internet arguing. Miley is a top tier performer but just an above average singer. Chances are you have met people who are nobody's with much better voices (coffe shops, church praise teams or even people you didn't know who could sing). I have personally met and known close to a hundred people who have a better voice than Miley but none that could even get close to her stage presence and that's why they're not famous. That and not having the connections or even if they do have the connections, just not wanting that life.

It's not the actual Miley Cyrus in the video, but it's interesting. It's a rap battle between Miley Cyrus and Joan of Arc

He did an acoustic tour last year with Steve Stevens. I got to see them at the Ryman and it was incredible.

HAHA I bet that was taken last month! They live in a time capsule!

Not to derail the Mylie thread. Also, are those their cigar and cigs on the ground for the photo?

As others have said, "singer" is not the right term for her. There's more to an artist than voice.

For instance, nobody would say Robert Earl Keen has an amazing voice but it has character and he's a great songwrtier.

For Miley, she isn't a pure singer. She's gone on record that an illness affected her voice. But overall I'm on board with her because she's different. Anyone who has a special and brings out Dolly Parton, then David Byrne for a Bowie cover, then Sia with a surprise appearance by Paris Hilton is amazing to me. That's just all kinds of craziness and fun.

Also, Dolly loves her, and I don't ever question Dolly. She is the Queen.
