January is pretty slow, entertainment wise. I propose this as one of our EB off-season topics when not engaged in voting on our favorite Sith Lord or the best secondary Office character.

A Muppet film.

First thought is, should it be an original Muppet movie in the current thread with The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted?

Or a remake of a classic movie (or beloved public domain story) featuring Muppets? This would be the staple discussion of Muppet Princess Bride, or maybe something like Muppet Robin Hood. The Disney library is theoretically open here for something like Muppet Tangled or Muppet Aladdin.



Or a Muppet spin on a modern franchise, such as Benoit Blanc, as is all the rage on social media. Maybe Mission Impossible is ripe for this treatment, or Muppet Deadpool, or Muppet Downton Abbey or Muppet The Office.



So, let's get started. Pitches! Pitches! Pitches!

I'll confess to not watching Squid Game so I'll leave it to others to debate the pros and cons.

How about a Muppets police procedural or courtroom drama.

My kids are older now but when my kids did watch Sesame Street they did some pretty clever sketches based off popular shows. I remember there was a GoT one, Downton Abbey, Sons of Anarchy.

Robin Hood seems like a natural fit for me.

Kermit in the title role.
Piggy as Marian.

Fozzie as Tuck.
Pepe or Gonzo as Will Scarlet.
Cary Elwes as Prince John, with Uncle Deadly as the Sheriff.

Absolutely the case. Seeing Muppets reimagined as household items would be fun. Pepe as a vaguely prawn-like candelabra Lumiere, obviously.

Total backwards world would make Piggy the Beast. Could get whatever leading heart throb actor in his 20s to be beauty. Just not sure which Muppet should be Gaston.

Would need to be Gonzo and Rizzo, right?

Piggy Does Dallas

Along the lines of the Murder Mystery - Muppet Clue.

Or some sort of take on a Shakespeare comedy like The Taming of the Shrew or Much Ado About Nothing. Except Kermit is trying to do a serious play, but none one cooperates, everything keeps falling apart, and hilarity ensues. Kind of like The Play That Goes Wrong, if you've seen that.

Muppet Pride & Prejudice pitched by Brett Goldstein is brilliant. The sheer volume of side characters (many who are ridiculous) in P&P would be fantastic. And someone playing the Austen completely straight (as Caine did in Christmas Carol)would be hilarious
