How long do you want to ignore this user?
I still have a number of things I need to see, but with the big December blockbuster having released this weekend, and all the biggest series having completed their runs, I figured it was time to finally get this annual thread going.

As for my personal rankings so far, in movies/TV respectively...

Still need to see…

- Aftersun
- Amsterdam
- Babylon
- Barbarian
- Bones and All
- Causeway
- Emancipation
- Empire of Light
- Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
- Resurrection
- Thirteen Lives
- The Whale
- White Nose
- The Woman King

Still need to see…

- 1899
- Black Bird
- Candy
- Fleishman Is in Trouble
- Gaslit
- The Offer
- Slow Horses - Season 2
- Under the Banner of Heaven

You can post whatever you want. But in the past people have commented that they find the bigger lists helpful because this is one way they either discover or are reminded of things to watch that they might have missed.

Movies:
Avatar: Way of Water
Top Gun: Maverick
The Batman
Elvis
Nope

TV:
House of the Dragon
Better Call Saul
Andor
Stranger Things
Cobra Kai
Rings of Power
White Lotus
Moon Knight
Obi-Wan

It's kind of heartbreaking that I couldn't even bring myself to list Obi-Wan in my top 5 tv, considering the excitement I had for it. Good ending but pretty mediocre overall.

No love for Glass Onion…interesting.

I may or may not have listed Obi-Wan dead last out of sheer disappointment/spite.

I don't think most people have seen that. It's not on Netflix yet.

I missed the theatrical run since I was in College Station the one week is was out, and it wasn't playing there. Definitely excited to finally catch it on Netflix next week, though.

I've yet to see Fabelmans and The Whale, both of which I could see vaulting into my top 5.
The Porkchop Express

The time of year when I reaffirm that TC has watched more stuff this year than I've watched in the last 10.

Where do you get that template from TC?
TCTTS

The movie template is from Letterboxd and I just screenshot my rankings. The TV template is one I made, though, and have been using personally for the last few years (since there's not a Letterboxd equivalent that I know of). I just download the poster after each season and add it to the grid. It's excessive, yes, but also a fun little project I enjoy.

DVRed the Batman but haven't watched it yet…is it that good or is this year just meh as far as movies went.

There's a group of people who I don't begrudge for thinking it's too long. I totally get that complaint. That said, for me personally, it's legit one of my all-time favorite blockbusters, and could easily be number one in any number of years.

The Batman was great. A little long, but great.

TC, I can't believe you haven't seen Black Bird. So good.

I know, I keep hearing how good it is. Will try to watch it soon.

When I think to all the new flicks I saw in 2022, only two immediately standout

Tv: Andor
Movie: Topgun maverick

I think 2022 might actually be one of my most forgettable years at the movies…
Thanks and gig'em

Movie-wise, there were three incredible blockbusters (Batman, TG:M, and Avatar), two of them all-timers (Batman and TG:M), IMO. For those two or three alone, 2022 was super memorable for me, blockbuster-wise. But yeah, outside of the blockbusters, it was a really lackluster year, Oscar-wise and other. A lot of that is the final effects of Covid, and next year is thankfully looking way better in that regard.

As for TV, I honestly thought this was one of the best TV years ever, just chock full of amazing shows, so much so that I had real trouble keeping up. I've never come close to watching this much great TV in a single year, and I could not have been more satisfied.

To your point forgot I watched Tokyo Vice, any updates on whether season 2 is happening or is the show done for good because the actor is cancelled? Actually liked it a lot.

This is good news, a lot of great foreign actors in that show.

Tokyo Vice was very good, and probably my favorite series I watched this year. Was very upset when I finished and realized we didn't even get to the scene we started with.

Very happy we will get a Season 2.

I absolutely love those top three series. Great choices. Personally, I'd put Stranger Things up there too.

Another very important film in terms of our awakening and proper advancement.

Seriously. Read the room. Shoehorning your obsession into every last thread you possibly can is just plain weird, if not downright annoying. And this is coming from someone who's actually very interested in that subject. But good gosh, man, give it a rest, or create your own UFO documentary thread or something.

Best Movies - The Batman, Top Gun Maverick, Elvis, Bullet Train. Did not like NOPE at all. The MCU releases were meh. Still intend to watch The Fabelmans and have tickets for Avatar: The Way of Water during the week after Christmas. The best movies I saw this year were released years ago (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Superman: The Movie).

TV - Andor by far. Also, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Light and Magic, and A Christmas Story Christmas.

I know its not gonna happen so I'm already preparing my outrage at Hollywood for when Top Gun: Maverick doesn't win Best Picture

Crowd pleasing movies never win, unless Return of the King counts as a crowd pleaser.

I'm still miffed that Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark did not win when they were the best movies .
