ER was really well done in the first five or so seasons. I guess it gets punished for being on so long.

I was shocked to see Halt & Catch Fire on the list, much less come in at #55. I enjoyed the first couple of seasons, and overall, it was a quality show...but not sure how it made the top100

The Wire holds up decades later.

Sopranos doesnt.

Agree to disagree. I've done a recent rewatch of both and loved them both still.

Both come across as period pieces now which is crazy barely 20+ years after they aired.

The pay-phone/pager/cell world of The Wire definitely dates it a bit when it comes to tech but overall the story still holds up. I've watched it all the way through at least 4 times, maybe 5.

I've tried rewatching Sopranos 2-3 times and can never break through somewhere around season 4: I just lose interest. I'm not sure if that's me, or the show, or just that season, but something about it just loses me at that point. I don't think it's the "dated" aspect of it or anything like that, I just seem to stop caring.

I feel like it deserves a lot of credit for sticking the landing. A lot of these shows have a final season (or seasons) that are just completely cash-grabs/contractual before ending. Some of them with seasons that do a lot to undo some of the greatness that was before them (*ahem* GoT *ahem*).

Halt & Catch Fire told a perfect story IMO. Was never "holy ****" great, but was satisfying from beginning to end.

Sopranos changed television. Was incredible for it's time and deserves a ton of the praise it gets.

But by today's standards, it's a cookie-cutter, "baddie of the season" type show. That's not to say a million other shows don't fall victim to that same trope, but a show like The Wire was different... a show like Breaking Bad *started* to get into that mold (Tuco, Gus, etc...) but I think ultimately intertwined them all in a way that it still flowed.
