1) I have never eaten there, but The French Laundry certainly has the reputation. (www.frenchlaundry.com/tfl/frenchlaundry.htm)

2) The best meal I have ever eaten is the Copper River Salmon served at Jake's in Portland, OR. It is served in a red wine butter sauce which is unlike anything you have ever tried. How good was it? Well, I generally do not like salmon, but I think it was the best meal I have ever had here in the USA.

(Copper River salmon are available for only 2 or 3 weeks out of the year. They pull them out of the Copper River in Alaska, and then they fly them by helicopter to Jake's. About 7 hours after this fish is pulled from the river, it is on your plate at Jake's!)

best ive eaten is mortons of chicago. it was unbelieveable. they bring around all of the meats before you order & the lobster is still alive. i about fell out of my seat & crapped myself when it started to move.

1) Not sure.
2) I've been fortunate to eat some great meals. In Dallas, Del Friscos and Lawrys were great. Houston gave me Brennans. But the top of the top goes to Tao in New York. The coolest restaurant and best food I have eaten. Tao even has a two story buddha inside. The ambience is awesome.

Nicks Fish Market in Chicago is just about the best food I've ever had. A little pricey though and everything is a'la carte.

If you dont drink, and eat a salad, steak with two sides and split one dessert, you'll drop about $60 per head. If you drink, expect a tab of about $100 per head.

Not sure either, but Copper River Salmon is definately amazing.

Hands down the best is Twin Oaks in Cranston, Rhode Island..talk about strapping on the feed bag at an Italian restruant.

Scoma on the Wharf in San Francisco has the best seafood dishes I've ever eaten. The best steak I've ever had was at Capital Grille in Dallas. Burger House makes the best Burgers (and the fries are out of this world). Blue Fish has great sushi.

You can't give out a simple "Best Restaurant" award. You really have to break it down into genres.

This is my favorite restaurant in Dallas...... if you're in the area, you MUST give it a try!

The CIA (Culinary Institue of America) in Napa is pretty damn good..much better then the overrated French Laundry.....but best Restraunt I have ever been to was Joe Fortez in Vancouver BC

Warren's Lobsterhouse, Kittery Maine. Lobster Twin (Two 1 1/4 pound lobsters) + baked potato + salad + Bud Light = $14.95.

Watch your step going in, since the floor's unlevel. As all good lobster restaurants should be.

Best meal: Chicken fried steak at the Coleto Creek Cafe(west of Victoria, Tx.)

I had a client who went to french laundry, which supposedly has like a 6 mo. waiting list. They had connections and got in. Dropped I think 800$ for two, and said it sucked. Service was weak, food was weak, definately overrated. Take it for what it is worth.
