Watched it last night. Like most horror movies, the first half was better than the second half, but this one was a good one either way. I really appreciated the unpredictability. Was a fun watch all the way through.

Wife and I enjoyed it as well. I thought Tess did a great job in the scene where she is going down the stairs. Her voice breaking while calling his name, shallow breathing, and everything else about her in that moment felt like one of the most real performances I've ever seen. It felt like exactly how someone would be acting if they were able to convince themselves to go down those stairs.

I was expecting a lot after reading the reviews on here. I thought it was pretty meh. Not that scary. Kinda dumb. Good silly dumb flick to watch on a Sunday night but not worth all the hype.

The lead actress was really good.

What did I just watch? Decided to give this a look after seeing Weapons. Cregger definitely does it his way.

Was there a supernatural element to the "mother"? Superhuman strength, car accident, somehow landing under Tess? Haven't seen any commentary on that aspect. (Watched it awkwardly on a flight tonight, thanks to this thread)

After I replied years ago I was talking to my business partner and he said a company he sold but still has a stake in put some last money in into Barbarian. Even after grossing 10x its budget they never got a penny back.
